Prince for sure. Are the others known for having great bands?

This is inherently the problem with “bands” - do solo acts “count” as “bands”. Prince & Pointer Sisters & RUN DMC would be up there, and Michael was obviously collaborating with other artists all the time, but it’s tricky if it’s technically an “artist”.

Also this reflects how a lot of black artists seems to be not a “band” after the 70s.

80’s Queen and 70’s Queen are different stylistically as most Queen can be. I view them more as a 70’s band. Most of their best albums - News of the World, Day at the Races, Night at the Opera, Jazz and the old shit that goes back to the early 70’s. Obviously they had later albums that were very successful and some if not all of Flash Gordon. So Killer Queen, We Will Rock/We Are the, Somebody to Love, Bicycle Race, Fat Bottom Girls, Bohemian Rhapsody, Get Down Make Love, Tie Your Mother Down, You’re My Best Friend. But then you had The Game, Flash Gordon, Another One Bites the Dust, Pressure, Radio Gaga, I Want It All. I guess on second thought they’re really a 70’s and 80’s band?

Also Talking Heads - 70’s Fear of Music, ‘77, More Songs about Buildings and Food; 80’s - Remain in Light (though a zero year is considered the previous decade), Speaking in Tongues, Naked and Little Creatures. Seems they could be both as well.

Because all their garbage music didn’t come out until the 2000s
