Thanksgiving one of my favorites because there are no gifts and you just get together with people you love and eat a big meal.
I've always spent Thanksgiving with the 7 people I'm closest to in my family, we never did a big extended family thing so never had to put up with dumb political takes.
the good/bad thing about my extended family is everyone basically agrees on everything(except me and my brother) so there’s no need to talk about it.

People on my mom’s side of the family (not my mom, mainly her parents and brother) are, I believe, all Republican voters, but they don’t really have any interest in news or politics so they don’t talk about it, and those of us on the other side don’t want to hear what they would have to say if it came up, so we also don’t talk about it. The ones on my stepdad’s side of the family are all Democrat or left of that. Politics may come up, but it’s generally tolerable because they don’t make you sorry you’re related to them.
At this point we do our thing for Thanksgiving and if people want to come we'll have food for them. The parade and football is on all day with Friends Thanksgiving episodes shuffled in. We make shredded chicken tacos and mac and cheese that can just stay at temp in the crockpot all day.

It's low stress and relaxing.
This is what I want. I always have done the dinner in the past and it is never low stress and relaxing even when I prep in advance. I am done with all that hoopla. I want to bet on some races and eat food someone else made, while dressed in a fancy hat.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Assuming this forum isn’t majority black Americans, having Juneteenth on here makes me feel awkward & nervous. Pretty serious holiday y’all
agreed, really don’t think it’s a holiday that should be voted on or compared to as some of these other ones are. 9/11 is also a weird one. 4/20 is a really annoying holiday too, v whitewashed and cringy stoner culture comes with that one. Like i love smoking bud dont get me wrong but stoner culture is just the worst lmao
