SO are we thinking basically the same headliner pool or whats the skuzzlebutt
Mostly the same, but I’d say the pinkpop announcement shows Queens of the Stone Age and The Black Keys are active. Black Keys really fell in booking, I’d hate them as a headliner but love them as a sub.

Black Keys are bigger in the US, would 100% headline

Smashing Pumpkins had one of the most abysmal selling tours I’ve ever seen in 2018 (which was supposed to be a reunion tour btw) and SK still booked them for 2020z

Two sets for IDK? As number 3 on his day? I’m all for having some rappers at this fest, but I feel like Slowthai, Denzel Curry, or Danny Brown would be better options.

Yeah, I mean Smashing Pumpkins was booked at Wells Fargo and Capital One on that 2018 tour, and The Black Keys struggled to sell out The Anthem on their last tour.. Also, that Smashing Pumpkins reunion was way overpriced, which the pricing made sense when you saw the production and flawless setlist, but ticket sales were underwhelming mostly because of the price points. I got floor tickets and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen; it was also packed out.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

average price was $79 which feels normal for an arena tour but their average attendance was 7.3k which is probably less than half capacity for each show (https://data.pollstar.com/chart/2018/12/2018YearEndTop100WorldwideTours_697.pdf).
Don't have the Black Keys numbers but I feel like it's not worse than that. Also, to reiterate, Black Keys are still bigger than RTJ and The National and way bigger than any sub that has played SK.

Black Keys as a sub was certainly wishful thinking from me. I think they could sub a fest like Bonnaroo now, which is cool. Was cool to see Phoenix start to hit the fest circuit as a sub again also. Feels like a lot of these indie bands that rose to headliner in the mid 2010s are falling to subs again for the major festivals, which feels like good value for them.
