This lineup isn't coming anytime soon. It sounds like there are still logistical issues that are not resolved. I'm not sure why they posted to social media last week if there wasn't more news coming. Maybe we'll get something the week after Thanksgiving. (I'm trying some reverse psychology).
why wouldn’t they approve the permit? It’s probably their biggest event and brings good money for the neighborhood.
This is the first time issuing a permit to SK since the new gun law was passed. I'm sure last year's permit was issued prior to April. There could be hesitancy in issuing a permit to a fest that's going to try to ban guns in direct violation of state law. Although this didn't seem to be an issue for ONE Music Fest from what I can tell.

there is no “new gun law”. It’s been the law since 2014.

As of 2008, per HB 89, you could legally carry a handgun in a public park with a permit. Per SB 319, which is new/revised legislation as of 4/2022, you can now carry a handgun or long gun in a public park as a "lawful weapons owner" (aka anyone with a pulse, no permit required). We are splitting hairs but it definitely seems to have reinvigorated the gun warriors.

While SB 319 revised some of the language in the bill, I think the Ga. Court of Appeals case GeorgiaCarry.Org v. Atlanta Botanical Garden, 362 Ga. App. 413 (2022) is the pertinent ruling on the issue here for Tim/SK going forward. I'm cautiously hopeful that Tim's lawyers can rely on that opinion, which held that the owner of a leasehold interest in (public) property with exclusive control over the property can properly exclude individuals from carrying weapons on the premises during the lease term, and draft the lease agreement to expressly convey an exclusive right of private enjoyment over Central Park for the weekend, obviating any potential weapons-carrying issues.
**ATTN TIM: don't go out like a bunch of bitches like Music Midtown just did. I'll even draft the contract and handle any litigation for free. HMU!**

It's not as simple as conveying an exclusive right of private enjoyment for the weekend. The specific legal question is whether the lease creates an estate for years or a usufruct. If the lease only creates a usufruct, then there is no right to regulate firearms. An exclusive right of private enjoyment for a single weekend would be a usufruct. If the lease creates an estate for years, with the land essentially operating as the private property of the lessee, then the lessee can regulate firearms under OCGA § 16-11-127.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden was successful in convincing a judge that its lease established an estate for years over the land owned by the City of Atlanta, thus letting them regulate firearms under OCGA § 16-11-127. The irony is that this decision permitting Atlanta Botanical Garden to regulate firearms is what doomed Music Midtown, because the decision largely hinged on the long-term (50 year) nature of Atlanta Botanical Garden's lease with the City of Atlanta. The case established precedent that suggested that leases of a shorter nature would not convey an estate for years. The opinion in GeorgiaCarry.Org v. Atlanta Botanical Garden is clear that the bar to establish an estate for years over publicly/governmentally owned land is extremely high.

With todays post about year 1, someone commented they should do them once a day until they’ve done all 9 which would mean lineup 29th. Tim replied “hmmmm”

Definitely better than radio silence. Maybe they'll pull one act from each previous year's lineup for the 10th anniversary. I know Dr. Dog isn't technically "touring" anymore, but they are apparently working on new music. So maybe a one-off appearance?

Well if there was any doubt of it happening the Shaky Instagram just replied to a person asking if it was actually happening and said yes and gave the dates
someone in the comments asked for the lineup and they just posted the whole thing
What’s the upload percentage of the photo, I’m sure it’s a very large photo with it being the whole lineup and all. Thanks as always for your hard work.

Lineup coming next Tuesday seems to be accurate. They just tweeted about 2014. Seems like they are doing one tweet a day until the new lineup is revealed.
Also really hope Bonnaroo and Shaky both book Alfie Templeman. Perfect act for both honestly. New album is actually great, plus Circles is always stuck in my head.
