My favorite moment of this Shaky Knees is when I was standing in front of the soundboard watching The Walkmen and after they played The Rat I walked back towards our group and as I was walking by this guy said “go fuck yourself”.
With Music Midtown gone, why not just run this twice a year? Do Shaky and Spooky in May and October.
suggested this in the Facebook group and immediately got a comment of someone saying they didn’t want hip hop “contaminating” the festival. Wonder what that means!

1) FIDLAR 2) FJM 3) OFF! 4) hozier 5) flips
Incredible weekend. When I first saw this lineup I was crowded around tranters laptop with Todd and on the phone with a friend and we were all thinking fuck, this is gonna be the worst. But this weekend was absolutely fantastic. So many great moments. Might be my favorite one so far tbh.
I did Puma Blue -> Trash Panda -> Snail Mail -> Live -> Future Islands -> FJM -> Hozier -> Flaming Lips -> Lumineers and it was an excellent day. Don't feel the need to write a review of the early bands but for the rest:
Future Islands: Absolutely excellent performance. Sam's vocals are incredible. I didn't listen to this band much before the lineup drop, but they blew me away, and A Dream of You and Me is one of my favorite songs now
Father John Misty: Finally got the chance to see him after listening to him since 2014 and I wasn't let down! I've missed him every single last time he's came through Atlanta since I started listening
Hozier: I like FIDLAR more, but I've already seen them at Shaky Knees three times before so I decided to give Hozier a shot. I wasn't ever crazy about his music but he put on a good show. Perfect to sit on the hill in the back and enjoy
Flaming Lips: The real headliner of the night. I saw them 10 years ago (almost to the date) when they opened for the Black Keys but that show didn't have much theatrics. I've read reviews of FLips concerts saying that all the over the top theatrics are to make up for their show not being good, but I don't see it, I thought they sounded great and the inflatables were fun. I also got a really good spot, except for someone that shoved their way in front of me. Hope Shaky books them again in the future!
The Lumineers: I at least used to have a soft spot for the Lumineers, especially after missing the first ever Shaky Knees which they headlined. That itch was scratched when I saw them at Music Midtown in 2016 and I haven't really had a single thought about the Lumineers since then. Their performance wasn't really bad or anything and I like a more relaxed Sunday headlining set, but I was totally bored by their set at the end. I'm glad they booked them for the 10th anniversary and they weren't the biggest headliner of the weekend because on a normal year they'd probably be our #1 or #2 headliner. I'm over the Lumineers at this point and hope they're not booked for any festival I go to again.
Our day: Off!- Nothing like some hard core punk to shake off the Day 3 sluggishness. Live- Throwing Copper was my favorite CD of 19ohnevermind. They leaned heavily on it and I’m fine with that. Father John Misty- I would’ve liked another half hour of FJM and his 10 piece band. Hozier- Sounded good from the hill in back. Flaming Lips- went because some people on Inforoo said to. They were right. I want a space ball for my birthday. Lumineers- ho hey’d us as expected, with some reflection of their growth along with Shaky’s over the last ten years.
