This is pretty great but the dates might make it a little difficult for me. Hoping for a NYC Chem Bros date.

Between this and Folsom Street Fair, SF is going to be a party that weekend.

Have there been any prior festivals/events at Pier 80 that might indicate how this fest will be setup?

look if Jamie xx and Floating Points + Four Tet can all play NYC on 9/23 then the Chems can get there that weekend too

You can get there taking MUNI on the K/T line, would be a 10 min walk from the stop to the festival but not bad. Given that, I'd look around downtown, you can often get reasonably good hotel deals and there are a ton of hotels there, and then you could just take Muni from there. But really: anywhere that the muni train runs, you should have reasonably good public transit options. I'd bet there are some alright muni bus lines that go down there too, I just much prefer the train.
