I really hope the kids with 2 day passes stick around for Chemical Brothers. I don’t think I’ve met a person under 30 in this city who’s heard of them. Still think a primo Coachella outdoor slot would do wonders for their reach here, though.
Tickets for the Chems show in Denver (their only other U.S. show this year, and with the Avalanches opening) are still at tier 1 through AXS and there are lots available for $31 on Stubhub (luxury suites as low as $55). Their U.S. fan base is all but nonexistent, it seems.

To be fair, 1st Bank Center is an awful venue. If they were at Red Rocks instead, I’m sure it would be selling much better.

That's what happens when you effectively stop playing the country for 10 years.

Did they lose fans because they stopped touring the country, or did they stop touring the country because they didn't have enough fans here to financially justify touring?

They probably foresaw the tides changing for their type of music in America and proactively pulled out of touring instead of dropping millions in touring for nothing.

I mean, chicken and the egg I guess, who knows. It's hard for me to imagine their shows are so uniquely expensive that they couldn't play smaller venues like everyone else, or pare down the show a little bit to do so. I guess the flip side is they pretty much never really focused on the States; the only years they've done more than eight shows here were 1999 and 1997. What a weird group.
Either way, I still think - particularly in the age of Reddit and two weekends of Coachella - they'd have benefitted tremendously from a blow out Coachella show one of these past 5 years.

They'd still probably pull a small crowd at Coachella. I wish they'd just accept the fact they aren't a big attraction for the US audience and just accept lower billings like so many others have. Top billing at any size of US festival is a tough sell these days unfortunately.

I just assume traveling to the US for a smaller fee isn’t worth it when their European dates are a higher fee. I doubt it’s a billing issue and more of a money thing.
It’s a reason this is close to selling out but their day is still Tier 1

Interestingly enough they are headlining a uk fest on labor day weekend which is selling like ass despite being a very solid lineup. I just think that there isnt enough on the u.s. circuit for them to justify coming through on a semi decent basis. Ultra hasnt had the chems since they played in 2011 along with Coachella, so that tells you a lot right there. HARD was the most recent one to have them and they likely overpaid cause it was a one off. I wonder what would happen if one of their songs ended up breaking through like kate bush and kids re discovered old dance stuff for once. It still wouldnt hurt to have them play Coachella again. Im sure after Weekend 1 and it was webcast there would be some attention given to Weekend 2 cause people would figure out it was a great show. Although word of mouth wasnt enough to get a bigger crowd for Aphex Twin, but that wasnt streamed so it makes a difference.

I think it’s just one of those things were your favorite thing just isn’t that popular anymore. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Doesn’t mean a young fan won’t see them for the first time and be blown away. Just in the grand scheme of things the juice ain’t worth the squeeze
Upon an initial dive, I have discovered that I dig the sound of PinkPantheress!
She's great! I still need to do more of a deep dive on the artists I don't know. Part of the problem with having THIS good of a lineup is it makes me feel a little less urgency on discoveries since I'm confident I'll have plenty of awesomeness regardless.
I mean I am guessing based on billing that its going to be Charli, Jamie, and Fred back to back to back in some order. that obviously sounds out of this world incredible.
