It seems unlikely that she's headlining Boston Calling, since she just played TD Garden, but Brandi Carlile is middle-billed at all but six of P!NK's ballpark and stadium shows next summer, and she's playing the ones right before and after Fenway Park (where Pat Benetar & Neil Geraldo are middle-billed).
The last time someone middle-billed on a ballpark tour did the shows right before and after Fenway Park, but didn't play that date, they ended up on the top line of the Boston Calling poster (although they wound up not playing).
I really can't imagine a Newport Folk or Beach Road radius clause impacting a Fenway show, since so many artists have played southern New England right before or after either festival (Didn't Jason Isbell play Prov, RI within a couple of days of Beach Road Weekend this year?)
I like Brandi Carlile, and while I'd enjoy her set, that leaves just one remaining spot for The Cure, The Strokes, or System of a Down, all of whom I'd like to see a lot more than Brandi Carlile. But I do think that Carlile would move more festival passes than The Strokes or SoaS, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that based upon the way tour plans are falling into to place for a number of artists, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see The Cure * Brandi Carlile * Paramore as the top line on the poster.

Isbell played Providence 2 days before his Beach Road performance (Providence on Aug 26th, which was a great show, despite the delay due to rain, and Beach Rd on Aug 28th).
Wouldn't the reason why Carlile isn't at the Fenway date be because she may be at Newport Folk Festival, which is going on from July 28th - 30th, right before the Fenway show on the 31st? I think he "and Friends" performance was a huge hit and, given her big following, Newport may want her to only perform there vs also at Fenway.

But Newport Folk caps attendance at a low-level and sells out before a single artist has been announced. They're not going to be hurt if Carlile were to perform at Fenway, and I can't imagine anyone who wants to go to the Fenway show specifically to see Carlile holding off on buying tickets, even if they're a Newport Folk regular.
I read on the NFF thread that they increased capacity last year, but even if it's higher than the previous 10K capacity, it's not so large that it's going to impact ticket sales of Boston shows or visa versa. Plus, isn't Newport more of a travel destination fest than a local festival for the people within a hour's drive?
(Doesn't Newport also attract a lot of attendees from the NYC Tri-State area? She is playing the P!NK show at Citi Field that same week, so if Newport wanted some regional exclusivity right around the dates of the fest, they probably wouldn't want her to do that show, either. Again, not that any of this matters, because NFF will sell out long before they've dropped a single name.)
idk if they would have done Roadrunner. these are all outdoor destination venues. i could see them doing Thompsons Point in Portland or Pines Theater look park in WMass though.

Walkmen back together and playing Webster Hall in April, would be a great throwback to the first BC. Speaking of I wonder if they'll do anything special for the tenth anniversary.
Anyone bring up Lizzo yet? Her tour dates is a enough to raise an eyebrow, skips Boston (but is playing CT) and has a nice big break over Memorial Day weekend (between two CA shows).

Would be a BC alumni and Female Headliner…
It's possible, but this new set of dates for Lizzo is for locations that she didn't hit during the first half of the US tour, which included Boston just recently. I don't think she would be here, but you never know.

I would love Walkmen. Saw them in 2005 or 2006 in Harvard Sq playing a free show and they were incredible.

That makes sense, was just curious to see a 7 day gap bwteeen venues that are like 2-3hrs apart. Or she could be doing Bottlerock

dont think she crosses the country for a show unless BC is paying an outrageous amount but you never know
Looking good for Gizz, though a part of me wonders if it means we’re missing out on 3 Roadrunner shows by doing BC instead
Exactly. The Salt Shed is a new indoor venue in Chicago, so they could very well have done multiple nights at Roadrunner, HoB, or MGM (or Leader Bank Pavilion).
we’re lucky to get them at Roadrunner though, only 4 US dates
fuck, i actually dont know if i can make this. i have a late class on that specific friday that may run til 10pm. i think ill gamble and buy anyways tho bc the same thing happened with alvvays this weekend and about a month ago i found out the class only goes til 8. hoping the same happens with this class. otherwise i’ll resell

They're originally from Lincoln, MA, and we know how much BC likes booking artists with area ties. Sounds possible.
I havent seen them on any festival lineups in the past 5 years. I suppose its possible though
Back in the 90's, it seemed like they did four or five free radio station concerts on the Hatch Shell over the course of the decade, back when terrestrial radio was a much bigger deal and half a dozen stations had free concert series around town every summer.
I also saw them open for Elvis Costello once or twice around that time.
I think I've seen them five or six times, but only paid to see them headline once.

I probably should have looked to see prior dates - they were just at Mass MoCA for 2 nights in early September, Royale for 2 nights in mid-September, and then Northampton right after. So, then, maybe not.
