this is so boring, not even coachella has had a substantial leak yet. i dont wanna wait til january after i write all my final papers. gimme that sweet instant satisfaction
I’m a little worried about the lack of any presale announcement yet. this is very unusual for this fest. hopefully they say something in the next couple weeks

They may still be shell-shocked following the events between announcing the 2020 lineup and what finally appeared on stage last May: FOUR headliner changes, two late COVID cancellations, a weather event, etc. Despite the shitstorm, I though they did a great job, we had a great time, and look forward to returning.
I’m OK with them holding off everything until January. I expect the headliners to be:
Red Hot Chili Peppers (originally booked for 2020), Strokes (originally booked for 2022, and didn’t open for RHCP Boston show), and Paramore (for some younger blood, and a female lead, in the mix).
Undercard wishes: Spoon, Big Thief, Death Cab for Cutie, Waxahatchee/Plains.

I think Big Thief is a given, based on their 2023 tour schedule (Maine, Vermont, CT, NYC, no Boston). Plains were just here, Spoon played Boston (April) and Providence with Interpol (August), so not sure if they would be on the undercard. Would love for them to be, though. They were great in Providence (and much better than Interpol).
Like Zach, a bit worried about the lack of any communication/pre-sale announcement, but I do think we'll hear something next week or just after.
Can they follow a bunch of bands on instagram again that was a really handy scoop last time out
They got wise to people checking out their Twitter and Instagram follows last time around and followed a ton of artists, most of whom didn't play Boston Calling.

Primavera lineup is here. We usually see a couple acts hit up BC before crossing the Atlantic for Euro fest season, and from this lineup I could see that being My Morning Jacket and hopefully Kendrick/Baby Keem
thats an absolutely insane lineup but i’m glad i did last year instead, overall far more artists i was interested in at 2022. I could definitely see Kendrick or Halsey at bc with both playing here

Yeah, those Shaky Knees headliners are not giving me confidence that BC can pull something better, but BC usually has a broader lineup, so hopefully that's the difference maker for headliners.
Would love to see any combination of the following SK undercard acts, though:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Manchester Orchestra Illuminati Hotties Gaslight Anthem Soccer Mommy Shame Heartless Bastards The Walkmen Snail Mail The Black Angels
I honestly don't think BC would book The Killers again this soon, I'm more than fine with Muse (though as previously mentioned they're in the UK 5/27 so doubtful for BC), and I'll be very very annoyed if we get the stupid freaking Lumineers.
The Shaky lineup kinda stinks. Which is scary for us, but doesn't necessarily mean ours will stink too. I'm trying to remain optimistic.

Pond, Be Your Own Pet, Digable Planets, and The Walkmen would be some nice gets. Will be interesting to see if BC gets YYYs (seems likely) and/or The Mars Volta.
With The Voidz playing Primavera, maybe BC will get them instead of The Strokes though they've definitely toured at the same time.

There's always a little overlap with Shaky Knees, but not that much, but you're right about the broader lineup at Boston Calling making a difference. Shaky Knees isn't exactly a single genre festival, but they're very light on rap (and it's usually something old school), with little-to-no pop and EDM. No matter who headlines Boston Calling, they've always got a little bit of everything in the lineup.
My hopes for a Hozier return to Boston Calling are now higher, since he's now already announced a May U.S. festival. That Flaming Lips "Yoshimi" set would be fun at Boston Calling, as well. (I saw the Yoshimi tour at the Royale many years ago.)
Not the most exciting revelation from the lineup but Bleachers seems very very likely, between Adjacent and Primavera
Keeping my fingers crossed for Death Grips, BCNR, and maybe Channel Tres since none of them have played Boston recently (if at all)
Tempering my expectations after hearing that DG turned down Shaky. Expecting most of the potential undercard acts I would like to see here to do Roadrunner shows instead

our undercard is probably going to be a combination of acts playing Adjacent and acts playing Shaky knees with maybe a few unique/coachella acts

Only to a degree...Boston Calling is still going to have an EDM, pop, and rap presence on the poster that you won't find at those festivals to the same extent.
