Not sure how much of a crossover BC would have with Welcome to Rockville, but...
Brutus, who was on the 2020 lineup, is playing the 18th. Could see them staying on the east coast and making their way up to Boston for one of the 3 days.
Would love to see QotSA, Mars Volta, and/or Deftones.
Other undercard acts that could make it to BC: Bob Vylan (hybrid hip hop/punk rock) and Nova Twins (rap/rock).
ok getting into delusional territory here but Boston calling recently followed Kendrick. i know they did the thing w following a bunch of artists to throw us off but this follow is recent, up at the top of the list

which social media? Would be huge
Instagram, dont have twitter anymore so i cant check there

They aren't following on Twitter....
but Kendrick would be massive. Would absolutely love this.
Also, not sure how Instagram sorts their list of accounts that someone follows, because when I view Boston Calling's follow list (I am following them), Kendrick is somewhere in the middle, right above Baby Keem. So, it's interesting that you see it different than I do.

Is that a new follow? They don't unfollow artists they've booked in the past, so anyone who's played a previous edition may be followed because they played the festival previously.
I'm not saying that he's definitely not playing Boston Calling, only that his presence in their "following" has a couple of other potential explanations.
GBH is running a spot on Boston Calling production being sold from Crash Line to C3, which is owned by Live Nation. Don’t love that it’s part of that organization now, but maybe give them a bit more stability/weight to toss around?

someone on reddit claimed they were sold to LN. C3 is a little more reassuring. i’d rather have the bonnarooification or aclification of BC than have them continue the direction they were going in. Heres hoping for a more diverse lineup
just curious where did u see this?

C3 produces ACL, Lollapalooza, and Shaky Knees. I'd imagine more overlap with those lineups now, depending on when the purchase happened and artist commitments were done. They also manage a few bands, like The Strokes.
The C3 news, if true, won't really be the worst thing in the world IMO. Would see BC move towards a higher floor/lower ceiling phase of lineups...which, and maybe this is my ACL homer coming out after seeing a decade-plus of modern C3 bookings, I don't think is that scary for an urban, multigenre festival.
It will be interesting to see what direction BC booking could go. Does it hold onto its kinda Indie/Rock/Hip hop-ish roots, does it go more the rock focus as it has the past 2 line ups, or does it become a slightly smaller scale ACL/Lollapalooza and we see some more Pop/Popular Hiphop/EDM creeping into the lineup.

Great question - also, will we see that in the 2023 iteration or 2024 and beyond? I wonder when the acquisition happened and what, if any, direction they were going for 2023 and acts that they had already got commits from. Paramore doesn't seem out of the ordinary for BC (they've played before) and assumptions around King Gizz and The Strokes due to COVID cancellations this year would lead me to believe that either Crash Line is still producing this upcoming iteration (and Brian Appel is still involved in direction/booking), or KG and The Strokes are contractual commitments.
With C3 now at the helm, will the festival have a more festival like atmosphere and/or, given the opportunity to grow/expand, will they move locations to increase capacity?
even though it sucks to have them go corporate. it may be beneficial for the festival to have the backing and budget of a large organization like C3. Also hoping they gain more of a consistent identity because going from Sia - Disclosure - Robyn to Metallica - NIN - The Strokes is just so hilariously inconsistent. look at the past lineups and so many of them each look like completely different festivals
also while I part of me would like a new and bigger location for them to expand, i kinda like the current venue and would rather they keep that, its just so easy to get to and such a great location. Plus I feel like the small festival w a big festival feel is very unique and an advantage BC has in the NA fest landscape

But that's the byproduct of going from City Hall Plaza to the larger Harvard Athletic Facilities as well as the MGM purchase and Aaron Dessner no longer curating.
I also agree the current location is good, but if C3 wants to develop this to the big New England destination festival, then they may move it.
This is only based on other C3 festival lineups and not any known trajectory from BC themselves atm, but it would be interesting if they suddenly went multi-genre when genre-specific festivals seem to be the most successful these days
Edit: Moving the location, especially to somewhere not accessible by public transportation, will probably affect the lineup too. I can't see them booking many artists that appeal strongly to Boston's college student population like Japanese Breakfast if the fest were to move somewhere you need a car to get to. They've been moving away from those kinds of bookings but I could see them cutting them out completely
