i always do blind presales because this is a yearly tradition for me but i gotta start doing stubhub instead, Coachella is one thing but like every other fest youre pretty much guaranteed to get a good deal
I think pulling the early bird makes some sense if it’s not something in the playbook for the new owners and given the way all the early bird/held over tickets played out last year. I can’t imagine we will ever see a secondary market as tanked as it was on ‘22

I think even if MSG was still running Boston Calling, the early bird sales would disappear as well. From a sales perspective, I'm sure they did fine in 2022, but the negative perception and word of mouth as events beyond their control took place is something they, and now C3, would rather not deal with to hurt future iterations.
Given that they were on the 2020 and 2022 lineups, that's a good bet.
Please no.
livenation bought this fest so just tryna temper expectations
Kid Laroi is in Sweden on June 2, so he should really get there a few days in advance to get over jet lag, etc. So, maybe leave on the 25th. ;-)
Just personal preference, but I'd hate for C3/LN to start pulling in more mainstream pop acts at the sub or headliner level. If the 2023 undercard is similar to 2017 or 2018 (mix of hip-hop/indie rock/indie pop/americana/folk/occasional punk or hardcore band (Converge in 2017, The Menzingers in 2018)), then that would be a huge win for me.

I think Converge were a replacement act, but that set was awesome though
I'm probably better off for no blind presales. No more impulse buying, then regretting the decision with a bad lineup (like 2020)
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Liam Gallagher, Jason Isbell, Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, Orville Peck, Dinosaur Jr., and Mew all sound pretty good to me.
mid but better than chili peppers. Realistic expectation top 6:
Foo Fighters - The Strokes - The Lumineers Paramore - The Kid Laroi - Flume

With C3 in now, I can't imagine that they want to kick off their first edition by having The Lumineers in the top line. That's not happening. Even if they had already been booked, I'm sure that they'd either get bumped down to Red or Blue closer (or at least have some strong counterprogramming going up against them elsewhere on the grounds during their set.)

Lumineers are massive but they're not gonna be on the lineup
Anyone with an unannounced Boston show could just as easily be playing the new venue at Suffolk Downs, which hasn't yet announced any shows for the year.

When the artist says wait 3 days, 3 days before the BC lineup drop, that's a pretty good sign that they're at BC.

Massive? I wouldn't use that word to describe anyone who's not capable headlining Fenway or Gillette.

Ah, I looked and saw a lot of people asking about Boston, but didn't see the reply. You're right, that sounds fairly definite.

Fair! Though if Paramore subs like they have for every other multi genre fest they've been announced for then Lumineers are the most likely third or second above Strokes)

I know it's usually not a factor for if they play or not, but aren't The Lumineers still on their "Brightside World Tour" which hit Mansfield last year and hits Europe a few days after Boston Calling? I'd assume the break between Shaky Knees and the first Euro date is for them to rest before they do the Euro circuit.
Edit: maybe not. Looks like Shaky Knees is the first performance of 2023.

So, are these the likeliest candidates to be on the poster, based upon artists' social posts, absence of a Boston show while they're otherwise doing northeast dates that week, and rescheduling cancellations?
Foo Fighters The Strokes Paramore King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Noah Kahan

Yes, last 3 are definite and Foos and Strokes are assumed based on previous iteration cancelations.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
I have said the Lumineers are millennial Grand Funk Railroad before in another thread, but whether they play or not isn't of that much consequence to me because I don't particularly care for any of the other headliners either (though Paramore would probably be the best option).
Boston's music taste makes me wish I lived in California. But this isn't the thread for that discussion honestly
