It's in September, and yeah that seems quick for him to play Mansfield - both timing and popularity
I can see him doing an area date 3-4 months after Boston Calling, but why not announce it after the festival? Somebody's going to opt to see him do his own headlining show instead of going to Boston Calling...probably more than a few people.

Although, this has me thinking. If an artist can play both Boston Calling and the Xfinity Center in the same year, seeing the right band added to the poster as a last minute replacement for a headliner with COVID or visa problems would be...just like heaven.
(Doubtful, though, given the cross-country flights involved in subbing for, say, Paramore at the last minute.)

Apparently Calling is close to selling out.
Surprised me
It's all about the poster, apparently. It was a stroke of marketing genius to take the top two artists each day and put both in headliner font. The exact same lineup with YYYs, Alanis, and QotSA in regular font and grouped with everyone else that's not headlining wouldn't be selling as well.
I wonder if they'd sell even more passes more quickly if they didn't have the ugliest poster design in all the entire festival industry. Sometimes, you look at a festival poster and like it before you even begin reading the names, because it's so inviting to the eye...which is something that no one's said about any Boston Calling poster from 2000 on forward.

Or the fact that the act that you are referencing will be at the Xfinity Center less than 3 weeks later. Didn't get tickets today?

If the MBTA doesn't run to the venue, the show might as well be on the other side of the country for me.

i have had more than a few people who i have never spoken about festivals with ask me if i've seen the BC lineup and say they want to go. this lineup for sure isn't this board's taste but they did something right, which unfortunately will cause them to double down next year and beyond

yep. this thing is just gonna be sound on sound 2 electric boogaloo
Yeah, add me to the list of people who don't love the lineup and expected it to sell poorly, and are shocked that it's apparently selling very well. I don't get it. This is the first year i didn't buy pre-sale tickets at whatever the cheapest option was, because i was sick of seeing tickets at half-price on stubhub in May and was sure that would happen again this year. Might end up costing me, as it turns out. Oh well.

sucks to potentially miss out on yyys if the price doesnt go down but ultimately i just dont think this lineup is worth that kind of money

there's clearly a big market for the semi-americana stuff, LN has like 4 festivals all within a couple hours' drive of each other with substantially the same lineup

no matter what, i'm eventually buying a 3-day GA and going. Just rolling the dice on what it'll cost me. Stubhub right now is already below current face value (350 each vs 385, both after fees), so i'm still holding out hope that it'll come down under 300.

I said if Maren Morris pulls out of Boston Calling because she’s so disappointed at the moment and she’s a country star and Miley Cyrus will replace her.
I received an email from Front Gate Tickets indicating that my wristband is shipping soon.
I'm just ready for the daily schedules. I want to rip off the bandage, so to speak, on Sunday and figure out how much of that stacked undercard I'm actually going to be able to see. I'm also curious about how things play out on Friday with The National and YYYs. Judging from the poster, it would seem like they'd be head-to-head, but it would make more sense to do National -> YYY -> Foo on Green & Red. We'll see.

I have a feeling that The National are closing Blue and competing against YYYs. That truly sucks.

You could be right, but I'm thinking about the way that Goose was a couple of spots lower on the poster than you'd normally find a Blue closer. There are enough pop artists on Friday to do a pop run on Blue with Niall Horan closing that stage. If they're willing to give The National a full 75 minutes on Green, before YYYs play for 75 min on Red, that could be a best case scenario for everyone.
Food lineup last year was April 20th (Marathon Week), so assume if it remains the same timeline, we'll get food next week and schedule first week of May.

The helpful thing about getting the schedule as early as possible is that it gives everyone a chance to check out the artists they'll likely be able to see at the festival, rather than work your way through a few albums by an artist who turns out to be conflicting with someone you really want to see.
I'm trying to avoid Coachella YouTube streams of anyone I'm likely to be seeing soon, so their live presentation is new to me. I had to tune out after two songs of the Linda Lindas, because they may be doing a standard festival set, but I don't even know if I'm seeing them. I'll likely opt for Genesis Owusu or The Walkmen, if there's a conflict. It would be helpful to have the Boston Calling schedule now, to sort out my Spotify choices, especially with so many unavoidable conflicts during Sunday's stacked undercard.
(The two Linda Lindas songs I watched were very cool. I checked out the first song by 070 Shake and it reminded me of the sort of R&B with rock guitar that Miguel did live when I watched his Gov Ball performance on VICE TV some years back.)
Someone mentioned in the BC subreddit that the Rockville IG page noted that no other festival is impacted by QotSA's drop out from their festival. So, seems to be a singular event.
