Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i’d easily take that Fuji lineup over what we got. I wanna know how Louis Cole got that billing though. Incredibly odd that half of Knower managed to get a slot that high
Here's another "wouldja trade lineups" hypothetical. Sure, I *really* want to see King Gizzard, but if they don't play a one-hour set at Boston Calling, maybe they wind up playing somewhere else in town for 3-6 hours this year.
Whether it's an outstanding warrant or something else altogether, I'm completely convinced that The Strokes have decided to never play Boston again for some reason, and that no one in the band actually had COVID last year. How does a NYC band go 17 years and counting without playing the second-closest major metropolitan area, which is only four hours by tour bus from your home base?
Could just be that they don't like Boston crowds. Jack White hasn't played in Philadelphia since 2006 for that reason iirc
But most of their solo projects and side bands have played Boston. You'd think that they would be avoiding the city altogether if that was the case (and not signing any contracts with Boston Calling.)
Also, if The Strokes had had a particularly bad experience in Boston, such as people throwing beer bottles at the stage or something like that, that would be common knowledge, just like the legendary Green Day show at the Hatch Shell 30-ish years ago.
I'm calling it now...something similar is going to happen at Boston Calling or something entirely different is going to happen at Boston Calling, but either way, King Gizzard will wind up cancelling again.
It's as if The Strokes and King Gizzard are having a contest to see who can find the most interesting reason to never play Boston again.

i mean a member of that band assaulted and made racial slurs towards an indigenous person along w being cozy with a lot of far right groups, i think its totally justified that they dropped and not at all a fair comparison to dropping bc of a thunderstorm
interestingly, they posted that saturday ga is about to sell out, i dont recall them ever announcing a sellout of an individual day in the history of the fest. i dont think this is a good thing though because now we’re gonna get saturated with stomp clap bands in future iterations lmao

Looks like 2 local artists per day will be on the larger (i.e. not Orange) stages. Orange stage is bottom 4 artists each day (no surprise) and the next 2 up from there will be on the others (assume Blue and Red).

Yep, Vanyaland broke it down and figured out which six are playing the larger stages.

so cool to see mint green and neemz playing larger stages, i know them through mutual friends. Also q tip bandits played an art fair in downtown Beverly so kinda surreal to see them playing red or blue here
in my grad school class on wednesday i was talking to some of the ppl sitting at my table about music and boston calling came up and for the record everyone at the table either said that saturday was amazing or they knew someone going saturday. the names that came up were mostly Lumineers, Noah Kahan and Mt Joy though i did have a Gizz head at my table too lol
i had no idea noah was so big but he has prob the most buzz out of any act that day. potential future headliner imo

To me, this demonstrates the wisdom in booking each day top down, based upon your headliner, so you've created a solid run of more or less similar artists to present an appealing one-day ticket for people who like that sort of thing.
This is a particularly good strategy when you don't have as many stages as Bonnaroo, Lolla, or ACL and don't have the ability to give people 3-5 active stages at any particular moment.
Lumineers/Kahan/Mt. Joy all seem like they'd appeal to each other's fans and Joy Oladakun is a good pre-Mt. Joy leadup to the bigger Americana names that day.
The dumbest thing about Sunday's lineup is that there's no one in the pop punk or blues rock lanes leading up to Paramore and QotSA. Sunday's the most appealing day for people with diverse musical tastes, but only Saturday is designed to attract a genre-based audience. Friday works because Foo Fighters are huge and will sell tickets just like Metallica did last year.

eh, i think Sunday does a fine job at creating a lineup that appeals to the headliners fans. its certainly the most diverse but acts like Bleachers, Linda Lindas, Wunderhorse, Brutus, Sorry Mom, all are pretty appealing acts for Paramore fans and Gizz, the Walkmen, Wunderhorse and Brutus are in line with QOTSAs fanbase. only headscratchers are Maren Morris and 070 Shake. they both make zero sense on that day, flipping Maren Morris and Flaming Lips would make each day a lot more cohesive

I disagree. QotSA is in that narrow blues riff-o-rama lane and none of the other bands that day are particularly bluesy. Paramore's old stuff is punk pop and newer stuff is generic radio pop and neither style is strongly represented in the run-up that day, Sure, were not talking about wild differences here, but there's no one in the Sunday lineup that's as stylistically close to either Paramore or QotSA as Noah Kahan is to The Lumineers. #Banjo
Foo Fighters announced a few non-festival dates today, interspersed among their festival sets, and they're playing the NH amphitheater two days before Boston Calling.
On the downside, we don't get to see the debut of the new drummer (I can't imagine that Grohl will be playing the drums on tour, apart from a song or two) and what's the first show since their world was turned upside down. In music and sports, some nights feel special because of the circumstances around the event, but that honor now goes to a shed in the New Hampshire woods.
On the other hand, it enables the new drummer to dip their toes in the water, so to speak, and get used playing in front of a large audience with this particular band, it gives the rhythm section a chance to gel, and the band as a whole to adjust musically and psychologically to having someone else behind the drum kit.
Given the remoteness of the venue, it may be the case of the band wanting to do their first show somewhere without a lot of media outlets, somewhere that notable music writers don't live, etc. (This is why the hopefully reuniting Oasis are likely for a handful of the early U.S. festivals. They're so much bigger in the UK and Europe that it makes sense to do a handful of the April/May U.S. festivals before the Euro/UK festival season begins in June. It gives them a chance to get back in the groove before the large festivals on home turf, as well as rake in a lot of cash. The only thing keeping them from playing Boston Calling if they reunite would be if they preferred to play only one festival per weekend and Bottlerock outbid Boston Calling. I sure hope that C3 and Live Nation have a lot of money. )
I had expected they'd add some sort of small warm-up show (or shows) before the big BC headlining set. A little surprised it's just 2 hours up the road in NH, but I guess it makes sense. I'd still consider BC the "official" return.
meadowbrook is the same night as pup and beach bumny so i didnt bother but it would be a cool venue to see them at. caught odesza there front row last year
For those of you who've traveled to C3/Live Nation festivals, how's the food vendor situation? I'm wondering if this new, non-regional ownership might translate to some different offerings...maybe more vendors from other areas. It might be nice to be able to sample some menu items we can't normally get in the Boston area.
Do C3 festivals normally lean into local and area food sellers or do they bring in a lot of out-of-town restaurants?

its prob not gonna be much different. I was at gov ball in 2021 and it actually shared a few vendors with BC like arancini bros
they really caught lightning in a bottle with this lineup. cheapest ga is $350 before fees on stubhub and cheapest friday is $185. Saturday and sunday single days are well over $200. this may be their best selling iteration yet at harvard

It seems like it was a wise move to give the second-billed act each day headliner status. While people as devoted to music as you have to be to spend as much time on Inforoo as we do pay attention to music that we like or are curious about throughout the poster, for a lot of people it's all about the headliners. Anointing YYYs, Alanis, and QotSA as headliners (rather than secondary stage closers), stands out more on the poster and helps to move more tickets.

noah kahan announced a show at xfinity. holy shit thats gotta be the fastest ive seen an artist get to that poi
I know there's another Xfinity named venue in the northeast. Is it the Mansfield, MA shed? I can't believe that they'd announce the show as long as three-day or one-day Saturday passes remain, and there are still three day passes left, right?
Looking at the Boston Calling, Beach Road Weekend, Levitate, and Newport Folk (to date) lineups, it's clear that none of them are working with a particularly restrictive radius clause, given the number of artists in those lineups that also have Boston and other southeastern New England headlining dates.
