Completely agree about Blink but was hoping for Turnstile. Thought they would have been at the 22 festival, but were in Worcester that week or week after.
why was my first thought 'oh no are we gonna find out this week 2023 isn't happening'
if it's not the case pls say haha
supre wouldn’t know that even if that was happening
i talked to someone about a week ago who works for Crash Line and was talking about how he was excited for next year's fest, so it's (almost certainly) happening. Don't worry about that.

I realize that he probably swore you to secrecy regarding names of headliners, but can you share a little genre direction? Alternative/indie, mainstream rock, metal, rap, pop?

that tour routing sets him up a lot better for that wine mom fest in Napa but that certainly doesn’t eliminate him from playing in the Goose spot

haha i don't know the guy that well so he didn't say anything at all about the lineup and i didn't want to overstep and ask (because i'm sure he's not allowed to tell me anyway)
i did ask about how i heard (from a mutual friend/local dj who was on the 2020 lineup) that they were supposed to do a roller disco in the arena in 2020 which never materialized or carried into 2022. he said they decided not to plan for anything indoors because people were still (or at least might be still) weird about covid stuff, which is why they put up that fourth small local band stage instead. (and before you ask, he didn't say anything about if the arena is back in play in 2023 or not)

He was just at the Xfinity Center on September 16th. That date gap does make it seem likely, but not sure if the reason there's no New England dates is because he was just here (in CT on the 13th of Sept too).

I wouldn't necessarily count the Outlaw Tour dates. Yeah he was here, but he wasn't headlining.

It wasn't his gig, though, right? It was part of Willie's touring Outlaw Music Festival. Except for the NJ dates, I don't see anything in the northeast, which might suggest a run through Boston, NYC, and Philadelphia next summer. Maybe two nights at the pavilion, MGM Music Hall, or Roadrunner.
As a headliner? Meh. With Blink closing Adjacent, that would put Paramore as the Friday BC closer? I can't imagine they'd close Sunday.
Friday HL or Sunday closer on Red
They're probably 3 or 4 on the lineup
I will bet money that Paramore will not be a Green Stage headliner at Boston Calling in 2023. Period. Full stop.
The last time they played Boston was a headlining show at the 3,500 seat Wang. That's not a BC headliner, since the move to the current location.
Given what we're seeing in early lineup and tour drops for '23, lack of any word from the Foo Fighters camp about 2023 dates, and the total unwillingness of The Strokes to actually play Boston again, I'm thinking that this is the top line:
Green Day * The Cure * Lizzo
Feel free to marvel in wonder at the accuracy of this prediction at a later date.
if we get stuck with green day (worst case scenario headliner for me), i’d accept it if we get a decent red or blue closer. Would be wonderful if we got Pavement but i think if we were to get them it would have been when they booked it like they did in 14 and 15. Doesnt seem like a band they’d go for without Dessner curating
I don't see Pavement touring much next year, if they're following the 2010 reunion roadmap: one pass through big cities, and then the tour is over.
I'd love to see Pavement, especially since I didn't use my ticket to see them at the Wang, but they're not big enough to headline (Blue closer on the night that Lizzo headlines?)

I’m not totally disagreeing with you here but I think you’re massively underestimating their draw, they’re playing purposefully small venues this tour and every show has sold very well with crazy resale. They’re almost certainly touring next year and I would guess that they’ve booked arenas in the US

Pavement played the Agganis back in 2010... it was good but weird. They're not really an arena band, at least back then. They made the right choice by sticking to multiple nights in theaters which I'm surprised they didn't do in Boston.

Couldn't agree more with this. This statement is extremely underestimating their draw. Were also talking about a show that happened over 5 years ago.. A lot has happened in the last 5 years including the revival of this type of music. Paramore is going to be headlining an arena tour in 2023 and it would not be shocking to see them headlining. They were #6 on the lineup in 2018 and have gotten significantly bigger.
I'm not saying they'd headline but let's not underestimate the draw Paramore brings in 2023.
Looking at the undercard from 2020 to see if those who did not come back in 2022 would be touring in 2023, there's a good chance that we could see Brutus (new album out Friday, touring Europe until the end of March, no US dates yet). Jason Isbell is still touring (saw him in Providence in August) and has shows up to the end of April (Florida). Not sure if he would be back, especially if Billy Strings will be here. That covers the Americana/Bluegrass portion of the festival.
Brittany Howard is currently opening for Brandi Carlile and not sure if she has anything new on the horizon.
BANKS just finished her 2022 tour in support of her latest, so don't think she will be on the lineup.
The 1975 are at the MGM on Nov. 4th and 5th and are in Japan at the end of April. Don't think we'll see them either.
Jack Harlow has blown up since being #10 on the Sunday lineup in 2020. Not sure if he will still be touring in 2023 (I hope not).
Angels and Airwaves - no, because Blink.
And going through the 2020 lineup makes me appreciate how much better the 2022 festival lineup was, COVID and rain cancellations not withstanding (so bring back King Gizz and Sudan Archives!)
