I feel like it's easy to take this fest for granted and nitpick, but I never cease to be amazed that a corporate owned music review website with waning culture influence even continues to exist in 2023. The fact that they continue to chug along and have the cachet to continue to book really good 3 day lineups for $200 is astounding.
One of these days it will go kaput in a big tax writeoff, so I choose to focus on the positive.
And keep in mind they had kept it at $150 for years til covid happened. One of the best value fests out there still at the price point. I think they need to go back to having either somebody earlier on Blue stage or a proper closer against the headliner. 15 bands a day should be their number. Just watch when they have Bjork back after 10 years. I do hope they announce this sooner than they have so theres just more time for people to decide.
Bjork's set get cutting short by rain was a tragedy but Bjork DJing upstairs during the switchover between Sky Ferreira and Savages at Lincoln Hall was gold. As was the free Chipotle.

One of my friends is still not over the thunderstorm.

The Smile just announced a summer tour that ends in St Louis on July 20th. Could very much see the Smile being one of the headliners if the festival is that weekend.

Yeah and the routing goes Pittsburgh - Cleveland - four day gap covering Pitchfork - Montreal so the routing seems to align well. Good eye!

They’re in Montreal on Saturday the 15th. So possible, but weird routing
Outside of New York they just are hitting cities they didn't play on the last tour. If they did play the routing would make more sense for after the St. Louis date.

I could see the secondary market thing but they also played Montreal last year too; it seems…odd that they would only return to those two cities and nothing else. (as for the actual routing of it yeah I was wrong on that my bad.)
So now are the Renegade people wrong on their dates? Annd obviously you can justify having it the other weekend if you booked somebody like The Smile. Ugh. Tell me they play The friday and just jet to Quebec.

They usually have a headliner that appeals to the zoomer crowd (Mitski, Phoebe, Haim, Tame), which is neither Big Thief or The Smile. Plus the legacy R&B/rap artist.

thank you for de aging me 10 years by referring to all of these people as “appealing to the zoomer crowd” lol
