Normally they scrub bot tickets for a few hours right? Do we assume some waitlist tickets will come through before the end of the day as that happens?
I assumed the same. We’ll have that slow trickle like usual today and then have to wait a few weeks til dust settles before people start realizing they can’t make it
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
Had three people all trying to get 2 day sat-sun tickets and all of us had it sold out within seconds. Was able to get 2 one day Sunday tickets. Am on waitlist for two days and for Saturday.

It’s funny watching NFF defend this horrible app on socials. People are giving their feedback on experience and they’re just like “the app works fantastic, dice is excellent and it’s working as designed”
Do we know what the official daily capacity is? or have a rough idea? And then from there, do we know how many people are eligible for the member presale or whatever it is? I'm just curious how many tickets theoretically went live at 1pm. I know it's a low capacity with high demand, but it seems impossible that all of them could've been reserved in a matter of seconds. At the very least, everyone should've seen the screen to add seats to their cart before getting shut out for not checking out fast enough... right?

Yes I agree on this. It just doesn’t line up that so many people never even got the chance to buy.

I remember hearing it was 10,000 a day when I first started going in 2014, and I know everyone seems to agree there’s more people now but I don’t know if that’s ever come from an official source. I’ve also had such good luck with the waitlist in the past that I’ve speculated they hold some back and/or release extra tickets at some point.

Bunch of hacks.
I gotta say just glancing here and at Reddit it does seem a little better this year even though I didn’t get tickets. It doesn’t seem like there were any on sale/not on sale/on sale moments, and while it didn’t load for me it was for less than a minute.
I’m not saying Dice can handle the load—it seems like they can’t, and the speed with which they sell out implies bots which they’re probably less able to deal with than ticketmaster.
But it does seem like it was at least a straight got tickets/didn’t get tickets story this year. I know one year I had deer tick tickets, then didnt, then emailed someone from whichever app they were using that year repeatedly and had them…I’d rather this than that.
Also I’d rather they stick with a smaller app that can’t handle the demand than go Ticketmaster. Maybe something will come from the Taylor swift congressional hearings that will improve this situation.

I’ve said they play ticket games in the past, and usually get ridiculed for saying that haha.

I do think they are holding tickets.
The first year I got on the waitlist (2017?) was the first year it felt busier to me. At the time I was like “they held tickets so that their new business partner would be setup for success.” And it’s still suspicious how reliable the waitlist is to me.

Bunch of hacks.
Last year they were all 'use the website' and website crashed. People who used app got them. This year tried app and it was awful, kept freezing up, gut the buy button, but then gut stuck on the next screen. Even when I went to get on the wait list the first time it started trying to open some kind of website instead of doing it right in the app.
Guessing they must've signed a multiyear contract and had no other choice after the debacle last year. Not sure why they go that route again.
Just use a freaking queueing system and be done with it. I've done at least 10 purchases through a queueing system for high demand items(concerts included) and never had any issues with things crapping out. Sometimes you get a bad spot in line, sometimes you get to the front of the queue and there's nothing left, but you at least don't feel like you got shut out because method of purchase didn't work.
Edit: Also show us where we're at in the queue on waitlist!!!!

I guess I got lucky I was hoping to see more success stories here. I’m hoping it works out for everyone else here, as it’s a huge bummer to see so many on the waitlist already..
I’m feeling extremely grateful that I got a two day pass and my wife was able to get a single Saturday. Usually I have bad luck with these, but I managed to do okay. If anyone was curious how, I used the app and ignored the message on the button when 1pm hit. To my surprise, the ticket loaded, so I immediately purchased.
I made it through the first step and accessed 4 Sunday only tickets. Then, nothing happened. I tried to purchase again, but a pop-up stated I already had tickets and couldn't buy more. However, I wasn't able to reach the payment page. Eventually, I was automatically booted out of the system. I'm now on the waitlist although my wife did get Friday tickets. Whatcha gonna do?
It's embarrasing that a festival with the reputation, prestige, and history that Newport has does such a bad job at such a key element of their business.
It's like NFL officiating.
Or - if every 5 star hotel in this country strategically deployed boy scout camp cots in all of their rooms because...well you know we just signed this multi-year agreement with "Bob's Boy Scout Camp Wholesale" and it's not like the process of getting tickets for an event that requires tickets is important.

I am triggered.
I’m here for it. Far too often this fest gets a pass on things and lots of people zombie along. They deserve all the negativity.
Can’t wait to see what the brass for the fest made in salary for last year.

I stood next to Jay, for a brief period of time, at the Deer Tick late night show last year and wanted to be like..."the fucking Dice app, really?"
It's like owning a restaurant that has a drive thru, but every customer has to come into the store to pick up their order after placing their order in the drive thru.
For what it's worth, I feel like I'd still rather them use Dice than Ticketmaster or AXS. Dice is definitely better at limiting scalpers and crazy resale prices, and that seems to be the most important thing so I get why they're sticking with it. But clearly it has many other flaws. The question is: Is there a better solution out there?

Zach Bryan just did his tour through AXS. The only way you can resell the tickets you have is through their platform and at face value. Problem solved.
Zach Bryan ticket-buying rules
To combat scalping bots, concert hopefuls can register for tickets via Fair AXS. The registration window closes Jan. 29. A random lottery selects registrants for the opportunity to purchase tickets to preferred tour dates. Dates operated by Fair AXS may not be resold for profit. Tickets may be resold via AXS.com at face-value. Ticket listings on second-hand broker sites are fake, according a promotional video for the tour posted Thursday. Rules apply only to Bryan headlining shows. Lottery winners should begin receiving purchase information on Feb. 13. At that time, those who aren't selected may enter a waiting list for available tickets.

Good point, i forgot about the ZB tour and had never heard of "Fair AXS" prior to that announcement. I hate the lottery-style chance to buy tickets (like getting a TM verified fan code) but nothing will be perfect, i guess. Fair AXS would work, likely better than Dice.

I hate queuing systems. I have never had any luck getting tickets from a queue for an in demand event. (Other than Taylor Swift, but that’s because the queue failed. I was originally 25,000 in line and would not have gotten tickets if I didn’t stick it out after it failed.) Queues can be influenced by some programmer’s algorithm which seems sketchy. Queues also eat up an hour plus of your time (if you’re lucky - Taylor Swift queue took me 4+ hours).
I’ll take a failed purchase over a queue any day. Using multiple browsers and/or devices can help mitigate a failed purchase in the event of a crash.
For those who immediately saw a waitlist button, it’s quite possible that that was by design. They may have only delivered the “buy now” option to a proportion of the visitors.
