Techno is like a 35 year old genre and probably had its hay day in the 90s
what no
I could be wrong about it's hay day but I think it's more than fair to say it was very popular then and it had it's coming out party of sorts then as well

It’s foundational to rave culture. Youngs can’t be mad it predates them.

Yeah no I'm standing by saying techno had it's hay day in the 90s. It was more culturally significant then than it has been since or now. It had some crossover success then and pop artist were influenced by the genre in the 90s that doesn't happen now.

Like pointed above, you nowadays have festivals that are bigger than major festivals back then. How so was it bigger back then? I also disagree on the latter; techno and rave culture was way more centered in/around city's and their nightlife while electronic dance music / house / techno has pretty much grown out of that. The things holding back a lot of US cities having a decent night life scene / community are the strict regulations that were implemented 30 years ago. And even besides that, dj's can sell out major venues.

I think you're talking about house here tbh, not techno.

I’ve learned 2 things here. I don’t think about/ care about genre near as much as some of you. I don’t think I ever thought only new music was good., I mean maybe when I was a teenager. But I’m thinking around 19 I really started getting into classic bands and some of them are still my favorites.

This exactly. I was a '90s teen. When I went to the record store, there were exactly 7 "genres": Pop/Rock, Classical, Rap, Country, World, Soundtrack, and, yes, Alternative. It was often a coin flip which section would contain the album I was looking for.
