Folk and folk rock are great and so many of my favorite modern artists are also under the folk umbrella imo: Bon Iver, Weyes Blood, Sufjan

indie should be next because that all got blown up when strokes and death cab signed w big labels, Radiohead has their own llcs which is too corporate, desner and Vernon working with Taylor
everyone now coming up organically is hip hop or pop to some form and everything is so bidding wars from majors if it's any good anyway
