For hating on metal? They know who they are. One individual recently offering a negative comment also recently posted a song from a different genre where even the background vocal harmonization was autotuned. What does that say when you can't even harmonize in key? People are willing to settle for shit.
I have no idea who/what you're talking about here, but love these strong takes on taste from a guy who thinks a genre led by ELP/Yes/Genesis is peak music.

You left out King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Since you offered bait instead of a rebuttal, I'll let you tell me in rock what is on a higher plane musically than OG progressive. What has more virtuoso or classically trained musicians per capita? What has more complicated components, time signatures and themes? You don't have to like it or listen to any of that shit. It doesn't make any difference to me. But to make it personal without offering an alternative to that which you are attacking me for is pretty low budget.

Virtuosity is for nerds and all those bands are p-a. I thought it was pretty low budget of you to go all blind item on a harmonized autotuned video that someone posted yesterday (or whatever the fuck you were saying) and thought you could use a dose of the same. You aren't the final authority on literally everything you post about (tm).

No one cares about the no name bands that you like either.
Esteban I like prog but no one who isn't terminally into prog cares about time signatures.
Which is fine. Pop, country, plenty of rock and R&B is also fine in a simple 4/4 beat. Jazz and classical don't very often use those signatures. He conveniently left out "rock" which was the point of it being the peak of musical exploration in rock. Beat and off time beats are just a small part of that. Not everyone can play them or keep off time like 19/28ths or 5/4 or whatever. And maybe that doesn't matter to most people who are willing to settle for what they hear. Part of growing up with musicians is appreciating the talent when it soars. But I don't want to really argue this outside of whatever problem dog might have to say since OG progressive was not in the contest.
What about "this really should be video game music" metal?
Fun side story: I went to see Dragonforce live once, and it was one of the wackier shows I've ever seen. At one point, the two guitarists and the bassist did a little menage a trios in which they stood in a circle and each did the fretting on one of the others' instruments. It was so fucking goofy and awesome.

Lol. Be the survivor police and dose the medicine. But before I swallow it down, know that of course I'm not the final authority on shit. I know what I know. But if you think even half of the degree or emphasis of what gets posted in survivor really is intended to be serious I don't know what to tell you. It's day after day on a topic pretending to actually care about shit like whether people prefer water over tea or coffee. Sometimes it takes effort not to bust out laughing in an argument about some stupid shit in a game we play. In an ironic twist, I find your occasional afternoon drive-bys pretty funny. I'll take my medicine.

This is fair and applies to basically everything I say in here as well. I promise I'm not taking this seriously. Thanks for playing along.

Rage was great but I will say if I didn't know what Rage's politics were I woulda thought just by the faces around me I was at a MAGA event. All thumb-looking motherfuckers, I bet at other metal its even worse.

i like disco and funk but:
disco and funk fans: on the types of drugs that makes you entirely focused on yourself, on feeling good, and what is important to you, while thinking you are actually concerned about the interconnectedness and love of all things but really you are only thinking about that because it amps up the feel good chemicals in your brain already running hot because of all the coke and MDMA. puke a little and stumble into group of people, start crying.
metal fans: couple beers, split a joint, stop the mosh to pick up the person who fell down in the pit, high fives, that show rocked.

Rage are rap metal or some shit they went out with buttrock.
Sadly, I think you're right. I guess they're my favorite buttrock band.
It is ok to like buttrock. I firmly believe that nothing should be disqualified from appreciation/critique solely on the basis of genre. I like stuff from every genre that was put in this competition and especially everything left. We're just being asked to choose.
It's fun to goof on buttrock but even more fun to make people admit they like some buttrock.

There was a club in Cincinnati called Annie's (now Riverfront Live) who in the mid-'90s through early-'00s hosted mostly washed up metal bands in addition to hosting Disco Night every Sunday night. I had a lot of great times there seeing the likes of Warrant, Sebastian Bach, Slaughter, etc., and dancing to a super-cheesy DJ on Sundays. However, these are going to be my next two votes because I just don't listen to them as much as the others anymore.
Why, because it mentions Puerto Rican girls? I know there was controversy around "Some Girls," but I wasn't aware of it with this particular track.
Because he does a fake Puerto Rican accent?
Fair point, although I'm not sure I'd call the accent Puerto Rican, specifically. Funnily enough, though, the reason I didn't think of that is because I have an edit of this I made for use when I DJ, and I didn't include that segment in it. I've listened to it enough that it's what's stuck in my head when I think of the song.
