metal is so broad and there's so many acts pushing the genre currently, there's a bunch huge arena level metal bands that are touring currently, theres like 3 good new funk/disco acts each and they're not doing anything wildly different than what the genre started as and the biggest it ever got was PFunk, which is currently an absolute shell of a show, or I guess RHCP which ok

and RHCP's best songs aren't even funk really.

All 4 of their first albums are mostly funk and I think many of their best songs are on them - If you have to ask, Good Time Boys, True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes, Baby Appeal, Fight Like a Brave, Jungle Man, Take Me to Your Backwoods, Walkin’ on Down the Road, Party on Your Pussy, Me and My Friends, Behind the Sun, Nobody Weird Like Me, Subway to Venus. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just a matter of taste, but if they were playing a lot of that shit the last many times I saw them, I would have been satisfied.

I'm not a huge metal person and definitely can't do the extreme stuff, but I like to go to metal shows when they're at bonnaroo. Meshuggah absolutely ruled LN.
Rage was great but I will say if I didn't know what Rage's politics were I woulda thought just by the faces around me I was at a MAGA event. All thumb-looking motherfuckers, I bet at other metal its even worse.
You left out King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Since you offered bait instead of a rebuttal, I'll let you tell me in rock what is on a higher plane musically than OG progressive. What has more virtuoso or classically trained musicians per capita? What has more complicated components, time signatures and themes? You don't have to like it or listen to any of that shit. It doesn't make any difference to me. But to make it personal without offering an alternative to that which you are attacking me for is pretty low budget.
Virtuosity is for nerds and all those bands are p-a. I thought it was pretty low budget of you to go all blind item on a harmonized autotuned video that someone posted yesterday (or whatever the fuck you were saying) and thought you could use a dose of the same. You aren't the final authority on literally everything you post about (tm).
