You have one (1) new message:
"Hey team! Thanks again for doing all that grunt work last year so we could line our pockets! Me and Mr. Rapino were both able to get new jets! We're happy to keep you on our booking team and welcome some new faces. BUT GUESS WHAT! All of your festivals this year sold terribly so your budgets have been slashed! This industry is unforgiving for all of us (except me). This is gonna be a tough year for booking lineups, but keep your nose to the grindstone, work out some great deals, and maybe, just maybe, I can buy a yacht next year!
Talk later!"
NEW FOR 2023:
Create Your Own Festival! Participants can now create their own festival. However, this will be much harder than drafting an already existing festival. If this draft is hard mode, creating a new festival will be expert mode.
Agents Will Be Competing Against Each Other
Bring Back Festivals from the Dead!
----------------------------------
Selecting a Festival Festivals will be selected via a one-round draft with a randomized order. Keep in mind that you are drafting a festival that you want to sell out. It is strongly encouraged that you play with the festivals identity in mind. You are free to make Governor’s Ball a jam festival but I don’t know why you would. If you wish to create your own festival, please state so. You may opt out of being put in the draft order if you are 100% certain you will be creating your own festival. Do not give any details about your festival name / location / genre. This will be talked about in the below section.
Creating a Festival When creating a festival, you will not be given the keys to book an $8M lineup. Instead, this option is more work and will require more creativity. Your budget will be determined by how much investment a sponsor (me) or LiveNation (me) wants to give you. Participants will DM me with their idea, location, and requested budget. Expect your budgets to be closer to something that a first-year festival’s would actually be.
If I think it is a profitable idea, I will grant you some precious, precious money. Location will absolutely be a factor. Don’t expect an IDM festival in Nebraska to be approved. Sponsors will give you additional budget in exchange for poster placement, stage names, etc. Feel free to get creative. Want to have a PBR-sponsored festival headlined by Wilco and The Shins? Sure! You want to make sure the sponsors match your target audience. White Claw probably isn’t going to sponsor a metal festival.
If an agreement is broken between a festival and sponsor or LiveNation, your budget may be reduced or revoked.
It is completely up to you about what you reveal about your festival. You can announce the name, location, etc early on or just keep everything 100% secret until lineup drop.
If we play this game in the future, you will be able to book your festival again and continue to grow it with larger and larger budgets.
Bring Back a Festival From the Dead This process is similar to the custom festival deal. If you can convince the big-whigs over at LiveNation to bring back any festival that doesn't exist anymore, it's all yours! But you're gonna want to create a good argument for why a festival that failed in the past should be brought back.
Making and Finalizing an Offer All offers and deals will be completed over PMs. Agents may ask for specific clauses that are not related to your budget. For example, an agent may demand their client be given certain billing on a poster. Once the agent has accepted the offer, the money will be taken out of your budget. Please be very clear with your language during these negotiations. Say things like “we accept this counteroffer” instead of “yeah”. The agent will finalize your offer in the master spreadsheet which will not be available for viewing to any other festival. Unless you are releasing your entire lineup, you must receive permission from an agent before announcing a specific act.
Agents are allowed to pull acts from lineups at any time.
What Acts Are Eligible? Any act you can manage to book is eligible. You are free to try to reunite an act. However, getting in contact with them might be very tricky.
Disputes In the event of any dispute, I will act as a referee. However, the game is fairly self-governing. If you have an issue with an agent, please let me know.
Trades Trades are not allowed between festivals.
Player Limit and Deadlines There is no limit on the amount of players nor the amount of festivals one player can book (though I wouldn't recommend doing more than one). New players can join throughout the course of the game unless the deadline is very close. There will be four agents as of now.
The deadline to book all your acts and lineup announcement schedule will be announced later.

the reason it took so long to do another one is because tranter went through every fest lineup available, grabbed the pollstar data, and tried to determine the fests budget from there

Look at you all! Starting negotiations and trying to get your festivals approved already! It's a competitive market. If you want to start your own fest or reboot a dead one, just know, that there's only limited spots and it's first come first serve.....
