We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Have decent hopes for Spain this year, been looking good in everything leading up to the tournament. As long as our manager doesn’t leave the day before the tournament we might have a shot
Outside of USA i'm usually pulling for the Azzurri or the Dutch based on family ancestry. I really liked the Dutch teams with Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Robben, Kuyt, Sneijder back in 2006-2014. Loved Robben since his time at Chelsea.
I think the Dutch have a pretty route to the quarter finals. They have a pretty easy group and will play runner-up of Group B, probably avoiding England and getting Wales or Iran. Not too confident in USA, especially after these recent friendlies.

After the US gets eliminated in the Round of 16, I’ll be rooting for Argentina so Messi can get his WC. Any of the Group F teams seem fun to root for as well (Canada, Croatia, Morocco, Belgium) + Japan impressed me in their game against the US.
I’ve always found myself rooting for the CONCACAF teams at the World Cup, some kind of weird continental solidarity. Even Mexico at times, but especially Costa Rica when they made their run.
I hope to be buzzing heading into the cup after a Union MLS cup this weekend. Gonna be an exciting tourney, i think a lot of teams have a realistic shot. US is all about the next cup when all these guys are into their mid/late 20s with real experience but hope we can at least get out of group play.
Im always blown away when I watch DeBruyne so would like to see Belgium finally reach their potential since their window is probably closed after this one. I have some German blood and always root for them too but wont even be surprised if they dont make it out of group.
There's not enough talk of Belgium in this thread smh. Shame.
im expecting them to underperform
While I hope they do great, I think this might be the last chance they get with the generation of Lukaku, De Bruyne, Hazard, Courtois etc. all playing. Defence has already been showing weakneses from time to time. So I agree, though I still see them as a dark horse for the tournament. Right up there with The Netherlands tbh.

I always root for the Western Africa teams (don't care as much about Northern Africa). I especially like Senegal this time around, both because of Idrissa Gana Gueye and because I like their chances to advance best out of the West African sides. I also root for The Netherlands, as I'm pretty sure I lost my virginity watching the Bergkamp goal in the quarterfinals vs. Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.
I'm a little more sanguine on the US chances than most, I guess. It's not data based at all, but some of these guys strike me as "big game" players - Wes, Tyler Adams in particular. A healthy Gio playing 60 minutes a match in the group stage will do wonders. Lots of attacking options and different looks if everyone is healthy. Yunus Musah is going to be a breakout player at the tournament (if you don't think he's already broken out during qualifying). I've been day one with Tim Weah, that's my guy.
Biggest question is who starts in goal? I think I'd go with Turner but I think GGG is going to go with Steffen.

I'll be watching this hoping that Arsenal players don't get injured at all, rooting for the usual suspects for me: Croatia, Germany, and I'll root on the USA til they get another deserved first round exit.

US has made the knockout round in 3 of the 4 tournaments they played this century, I don't know if I'd call it "another" or "deserved". I don't understand everyone being so down on US.
