I hope we can find or develop a real 9 before 2026 Still a decent run, but expectations need to be raised based on the talent on this team. I don't think Berhalter is the right manager to get the team to the next level, but unfortunately I think the federation brings him back.

USA youth teams have been more dominant than ever. I think we’re gonna just keep on developing our most talented players ever. Some 17 year old like Rodrigo Neri gonna be scoring a ton by 2026.
A lot of my bros are pissed and calling this team overrated and a disappointment and, even as a non-USMNT fan, I think they’re idiots.
Maybe my expectations were low, but I thought they basically did what they were supposed to. Idk what else you want from them. I feel like a lot of the newer casual soccer fans see the narrative of “golden generation” being pushed and think that means they’re actual contenders - which is arrogant to the point of insanity.

most of our team is still young enough to play in the Olympics. I really don’t think this is a golden generation anyway. We should just keep producing better players.

I'm very happy with how they played. They were naive, yes. They didn't convert their chances, the Dutch did. They made mistakes. On another day they win this match 3-1. Now we root for England to be humiliated.

It was only like 10 years ago when people were fawning over players that turned out to be essentially nothing wherever they went. I had friends who were telling me Danny Szetela, Sal Zizzo, and Edson Buddle were going to be dominating in the future. We're a long way from that.

Agree on all fronts. US has a gaggle of good young players that’ll be better in 26. Maybe they find a couple more along the way. That’s it. The golden generation talk needs to calm the fuck down. Even then, Portugal in the 2000s with CR7, Figo, and Deco and Belgium more recently had real golden generations that never won trophies - let alone a World Cup. Expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

if you didn't like this post and it's mention of Edson Buddle, i just have to question your USMNT credentials.

I wonder what happens if the group matches are ordered differently. If we play England first. Or Iran first and get the 3 pts. Does it allow for more squad rotation? Think the MMA midfield could have used some minutes off the field. Thought Acosta for Musah around the 60th could have made a difference.
