Before I read all these comments I am going to be controversy...Pizza is just ok. I like thin crust the best and will always eat pizza if offered, but I don't think I have ever had a pizza that made me go, I could eat that everyday. Idk there are so many better foods.

You could just say that you've never had good pizza.

I've had pizza that people have said is the best. It was ok. It's pizza, it's fine.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

ohhhhh now this is my type of thread....Pizza is my all time favorite food...My career is selling flour and I am in and out of pizzerias all day long and I absolutely love it.
I could eat pizza every day. My favorite places were always in Jersey - they just get the right combo of elements. NYC pizza is good but tends to be slightly crispier than what I like. Chicago deep dish is pretty great also; I love eating a meal and immediately feeling like I could slip off into a coma. Philly pizza I've found is just okay - I've found one go-to spot that I like consistently and am satisfied with but no spot that's yet made me go "WOW this is great pizza".
For my tastes: the crust under the pizza should be soft enough to necessitate a fold in order to guide it to your mouth. If you pick up a slice by the crust and it doesn't lose it's shape, it's too crispy. Same for the end crust; I like to be able to bite into it without little black crispy flakes flying everywhere, and chewing it shouldn't tear up the roof of my mouth. A little bit of crisp on the crust is fine, but it's a fine line before you're also taking the cheese from gooey to tough, which is no bueno.
Soft, foldy NY-style and was always my favorite when I was young, and the local pizza place was Greek (like in so many small towns around here), so those were the only real styles I knew growing up. As an adult, I highly prefer New Haven to both. Give me all of your crisp and char, Jaz!
Deep dish barely qualifies as pizza.
EDIT: As a whole my least favorite "pizzas" are the real poofy ones like a Sicilian, or the Rhode Island one.

pizza is quite easy to make at home - takes a little effort and trial/error with the technique for the dough/sauce, but whipping up some homemade pies is always fun and delicious.
i've been practicing my homemade pizza a lot over the past few months. sourdough crust in the cast iron in the oven and tweaking my usual crust recipe in the ooni out in the back yard. i think the most i've made at once is 14 pizzas, but i'll find more space for rising dough balls for an inforoo pizza party.

14 pizzas?! How long did that take from start to finish? That's super impressive!

Most Fridays, I “pick up dinner for my family”, which entails having a couple beers at MadTree Brewing while I wait for my Catch-A-Fire Pizza order. It’s a wood-fired pizza place that my buddy owns in the brewery. Interesting pies with high-quality ingredients. Our go-to is the Banan’Za - fire-roasted red sauce, Italian sausage, prosciutto, red onion, banana pepper, and four cheeses.
Taglio is another solid place that does both Detroit- and NY-style very well.
When I lived in Chapel Hill I used to love Gumby's Pizza's Stoner Pie - pepperoni, bacon, mozzarella sticks and fries. (I'd usually get it without the fries, though.)

when we do pizza parties, i make a bunch of dough balls and prep toppings. then everyone can build their own and my husband cooks them in the ooni. the hardest part is finding enough cutting boards and space for the dough to rise in this little house.

I fucking miss Gumby’s. The best “relationship 20” I ever gained was caused from late night Gumby’s and love.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Nah tomato pie is good. I understand the hesitance but it makes for a really good snack to put on a table with other appetizers. Like hot nachos are great but chips and salsa is pretty damn good too.
