Don't get me wrong there are good artists on this lineup but let's just say I'm glad I got my Roo tickets this year.
Everyone is down on this. I am not super excited by the headliners (besides Dead Co) but the undercard is always awesome and some of the bands I don't particularly like Shell does haha
Yeah this is incredibly mid for JF standards on the top line...great depth on the 2-4 lines tho. Weird to think that more days the Gentilly and/or Congo stages will have more interesting closers than Acura.

Somehow I skipped over Ludacris and Wu Tang on first look. You're right the undercard is always strong. I think when there are glaring weak spots at the top it sways ones opinion but in reality you could have amazing time and never see a headline act the whole weekend.
Oh forgot the mention I'm getting married in New Orleans the Friday after W2, so this is entirely on the radar. The fiancé and I are getting in the Monday but I would love this lineup to draw us there a few days earlier.
PS anyone in town who wants to join our second line is more than welcomed lol

Sounds like you are definitely in for this, no?
I am not sure. Still working out plans for the year. My daughters are getting their license, doing summer precollege programs, etc. I might be too broke to fest

Might drive over for dead and co day, and jazzfest is always delightful, but yeah not much of a lineup really, besides all the great localish talent you already knew were going to be there.

I’m in for Weekend Two. Can’t pass up Dead and Co and I’ve never been. Excited that they’re playing on Saturday. Any recommendations for a first timer?

Eat everything Whatever your food budget is, double it

a lot of people will tell you to eat the cochon de lait poboy and they are correct. overall jazzfest food is far and away the best food you'll eat at a music festival. not just "good for a music festival" but just awesome food that is special. don't eat breakfast, show up to the fest when it opens (11am i think?) and start eating.

Go early knowing the things you want to eat. Usually there are no lines until the early-mid afternoon, then it’s a fuck job. It’s pretty easy to get around the horse track, so you can see most of what they have. There’s an international area that will be featuring Puerto Rico this year. Sometimes there are some good dishes from the hosted ‘countries’ but I haven’t looked into that yet.

Jon Batiste’s agent is a legend for pulling off that high a billing for him, even if he’s a hometown artist that’s one of the biggest overbillings I’ve ever seen on a fest lineup

is there a day-by-day lineup anywhere? Can't find it

I’m guessing he’ll be a Jazz Tent HL, but I could be wrong.
Working on convincing the wife to do dead co. Day and the grandparents to watch the kids. May be a tough sell because we've got busy spring/summer travels for goose at the ryman, gizz at the caverns, and Bonnaroo.
Never cut through the track even there's a band on the main stage. Always go around the track.
Also, mango freeze is the best thing to cool you off in the heat.
I bought someone’s brass passes off of them one year to catch Jack White on the last Saturday and the unlimited mango freezes was the best perk of the pass
