Excited to kick off my festival season with my first one of the year! I’m a short blond gal wearing a blue Hawaiian shirt and red hat today, if you see me say hi!

I'm wearing beige pants and a purple/black/white top. I'll have a purple bag and a cane and will be bouncing around ADAs. The boyfriend has a beetles shirt.
Pretty happy they added that 3rd ADA platform in GA. The other 2 are in VIP and while I appreciate the free VIP upgrade I'd rather be out in GA since most of my friends are GA.
Gonna try the shuttle for the first time today too!

I'll be there solo today in a black Inter Miami jersey, pink shorts, and white and black shoes. Down to meet up with Inforoo folks - say hi if you see me!

FYI pretty big crash in Burbank eastbound 134 for those of you heading from the valley or further west. Happened to be where I was getting off anyway for lunch so didn’t deter me much, but may wanna take the 210 if you can.

No need to take the 210. 5 was jammed a little too. You can just side track it and run paralell to the freeway and jump back on when you can.
it's not crazy packed yet, but all the lines are just slow so everything feels more crowded between the stages. It's not sold out but I'll bet it'll end up being about the same as last year.
felt like they had the JV team working. all lines moved so slow. i don’t think i’ll be back to this one. rideshare was a nightmare at 945p. can’t imagine what it’s like now. logistic nightmare
Future Islands always deliver! Caribou was good. MGMT and M83 were decent. Meh!

You prob couldve taken the shuttle back to old town and saved yourself the trouble of getting a car to get you down there.I doubt many people were trying them at that hour.

I don't know what happened with the logistics this year. Definitely felt more crowded than last year and both days of TANP but didn't feel overly packed either. Good thing for the festival's long-term health I guess, even as the number of appropriate non-repeat acts dwindles further.
Will do a full recap tomorrow, but I think my favorite set of the day was Caribou, which I didn't expect!

Nice little festival and location. Hot Chip was my favorite set today, but really nothing I saw was bad or disappointing. Azaelia was way late but she delivered the 20 minutes she performed. Don’t think I’ve smiled so hard at a set more than I ever have at Peaches. That was a ton of fun. Inconsistent sound was my biggest complaint. Felt it could have been consistently louder at the Stardust stage. M83 was the only act that felt right from a volume standpoint on that stage.

Had a great time! Every set I saw was good.
Already starting my wishlist for next year: Vampire Weekend, The xx, TV on The Radio, The Libertines, Camera Obscura, Kings of Convenience, Broken Bells, Spoon, The Kooks, Sleigh Bells, Tegan and Sara, Local Natives, Tune-Yards, The Fiery Furnaces, The Fratellis, Bombay Bicycle Club, Japandroids, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart...

Alright, recap time. There are a few reasons I can think of for the lines. This is either the first or one of the first festivals at Brookside this year, whereas it came after Cruel World last year, so maybe the crew just hasn't gotten their shit together for the year yet. Second was that this was definitely a younger crowd than last year and they want to show up earlier in the day (heard several people refer to this as "high school music"), and the addition of the Hives on so early probably contributed to a lot of people getting there earlier than they originally intended.
Once I actually got in, this festival is still great. The GA+ lounge was nicer than I expected, with couches and cushions and a bar with no line. Caught the second half of STRFKR, who seemed like a good time, although those dancers in the astronaut suits couldn't have been comfortable in the heat. The only other time I saw Metronomy was Coachella 2012, but I don't remember them being this good? Shout-out to the girl running with the pink ribbon in the crowd dancing with every stranger, that's the type of energy I aspire for.
Ladytron/Fever Ray was my nightmare conflict of two artists I've loved for years but had never seen. Opted for Ladytron cause I think I want to experience Fever Ray with a light show, but felt like there was no wrong choice here cause Ladytron ruled. Met up with a shroomed-out friend after and we chilled and chatted, so I had to miss the Walkmen while we casually watched Peaches from afar. It was a Peaches show alright. Moved in for Hot Chip, who never miss, even though the setlist was questionable. (Look, I know you guys are probably sick of playing "Boy From School" and "I Feel Better", but do you really think the people want to hear two tracks from Bath Full of Ecstacy instead?)
I'd heard about how good Caribou are live but never saw him before yesterday. Will definitely not be the last time I see him. Crowd started out depressingly small, but it probably doubled in size by the end. I decided to stick with M83 over MGMT, because I know M83 would bring it whereas MGMT can be a crapshoot, and they brought it! Playing "Mirror" during a one-hour festival set immediately after "Midnight City" felt like a purposeful troll move to weed out fair weather listeners but I kinda dug it. YYY's were a well-oiled machine as always, even playing a song off the EP that I clearly wasn't hardcore enough to recognize.
The high turnout has me more optimistic than the months leading up to the fest about another return next year. Also a very friendly crowd!
I was in the middle of writing a long review for this, only to decide this fest experience isn’t worthy of one. Caribou and Fever Ray were fucking awesome. M83 were really good. LOL at MGMT pulling that shit with their performance (although r/mgmt seems to be eating it up). Also loved The Faint although that felt over right when it got started. Oh, and the Walkmen still sound great after all these years.
1) Caribou 2) Fever Ray 3) M83 4) The Faint 5) The Walkmen 6) Hot Chip 7) Metronomy 8) The Hives 9) MGMT
Bailed on YYYs since I was tired and wasn’t feeling it.

My top sets were Caribou and M83 by far.
I forgot how good Caribou was since I hadn't seen him since HARD 2015 and that was in the building with poor sound so hearing him at stardust sounded much better. Sun.
I last saw M83 at the Hollywood Bowl with the orchestra and while it was a great show, it was nothing compared to last night. Far better than even seeing the Coachella set from 2012.
Ladytron was an act I've always loved but never managed to see live so it was nice to finally see them. Great set and while I was sad to miss Fever Ray I'm happy with my decision.
The Walkmen were great too. I love Hamilton's voice. I've never managed to see them before either so it was nice to catch them after thinking they were done.
I'm not the biggest Future Islands fan, but I can watch Sam dance and pound his chest on stage for at least 50 minutes and enjoy it. There was a medical issue up front and Sam called out for medics and security without even missing a lyric, so that was impressive.
The Bravery was fun and they were also someone I didn't think I'd ever be able to see. The covers were cool but I'd rather just hear their songs.
Finally, Metronomy was also a first for me, and they were better than I had expected. I've enjoyed them casually but never saw them live. The part in the middle with just the keyboards and drums was fun!
I wanted to see The Faint but we didn't make it in after all the traffic and lines.
I decided to skip YYYs since I wasn't up for walking back over to Orion but listening to them from far away made it seem like they had a good show.
It was different being at the other side of the venue. Previously it was always clubhouse on that side so being on the other side made the venue feel different and new again. Clearly everyone was still on the other side because the right side of Orion was pretty empty most of the day while the left side went pretty far back.
Shuttles were great, I think I'll skip parking from now on and just use the shuttles from now on.

I remember Caribou opening for Radiohead in 2012 and loving Sun live. Damn that was a good tour

That poke at frank was funny.
I bailed during The Youth to go see M83 because I was getting Moogfest 2010 vibes from their performance. When they came out playing Time To Pretend to a backing track after that interpretive dance intro, I knew they were gonna fuck with everyone the whole set rather than just play it well live like they used to back in the day. Saw them pretty much play the whole album at Bonnaroo 2008 and it was great.
Kinda bummed I missed that 4th Dimensional Transition (videos look really cool) but I needed a great show at that point and not a head scratcher, which is why I went with M83.

Both my friends went to MGMT while I went to M83. One said it sucked and left early, the other was shroom friend who stayed and thought it was the greatest thing she's ever seen. Take that how you will.

I went to their set and see both perspectives lol. I’m on the side the loved it, teared up a little when they played Love Always Remains. Wish the band was out for more of the set though
As a huge MGMT fan I left their set early, mostly because they were definitely fucking around which I honestly expected. Catching the end of M83 was the move. With that said, I thought MGMT mostly delivered, I had a really good time singing along to some songs I never thought I’d hear live but the LDA tour was better and I would’ve appreciated the full band more.
Caribou and Hot Chip were the best of the day by far followed by prolly YYYs

i'm on the side that loved it and also cried (and no shrooms, just booze)
Favorite sets were Fever Ray, The Walkmen and Caribou. Biggest surprise was Azealia Banks. Wasn’t planning on it, but since she was late and we were a little bored at Metronomy, we checked her out.
We had a toddler with us for half the day, so navigating took a little more time and patience. I missed pretty much all of Hot Chip because my wife and daughter were having fun at Future Islands.
