Definitely agree with Phoenix closing the second stage, but TWOD at sunset on the main stage feels too perfect for them to pass up. Maybe I'll do mock set times like I did for last year (I got a good 80% of it right, so I'm feeling cocky!).
Edit: "roostery" is the forum censor at its most perfect
Death Cab into Postal Service seems like a lock for last two acts on the main stage, given that that's how they've been doing the whole tour. I guess it's possible they put TWOD before DCFC on main, but then who do you think would go before Phoenix on the second stage? I guess maybe Miike Snow or Passion Pit? We'll see.
If you look at the past couple years, the sub-headliner performs before the headliner on the main stage (2023: MGMT into YYY | 2022: Modest Mouse into Interpol).
And since JHL uses a rotating stage for the main, Death Cab and Postal Service will probably be on the same side of that rotation. Though it would be funny to see Ben Gibbard walk off the stage...have the stage rotate...and then just have him walk back on stage for Postal Service. But the schedule will most likely look like:
Mainstage: Death Cab For Cutie >> Phoenix >> The Postal Service.
Closing out the second stage will most likely be The War on Drugs.
Warpaint seems kinda out of place for this fest. They're more Desert Daze-y to me
I think Warpaint fit perfectly. Big act in the LA indie scene in the early 2010's, and there have probably been multiple acts who have played both. When I think of a band that only suits DD and not JLH, I think like...King Gizz or a shoegaze band.
Like 2024, the 2013 lineup was a bit of a mess when smoe White Whales headliners said no. Pretty sure GV booked Phoenix without hearing the new album.
After their Coachella headlining performance, Phoenix booked a show at the LA Sports Arena (capacity 16,740), which they had to cancel due to abysmal ticket sales. They then booked a replacement show of sorts at Club Nokia (capacity 2,300), which took weeks to sell out.

they also only sold 2000 tix to a 3500cap venue show in boston they played in 2022. other notable acts that fully sold out the venue include Alvvays, Weyes Blood, Muna, Idles and Japanese Breakfast. Blows my mind to think a former coachella headliner had a more difficult time selling out the venue than those 5

Swedish House Mafia had US arena tour issues in 2022. Billboard even said that a Phoenix Arizona arena for SHM only sold 250 tickets, which Live Nation refuted.
It is also odd that fans have generally memory-holed that when Phoenix headlined Coachella they used that spot to bring out R-Kelly. That aged well.

I remember looking at the SHM arena maps. 250 tickets sold in Arizona was definitely in the ballpark. I’m sure it was actually like2 53 or something and so Livenation was able to claim that it was technically wrong.
Alvvays too but it seems like they’ve run out of bands from that era.
Theres still bands. Current list barring whats announced.
Lcd Soundsystem The Strokes Arcade Fire Arctic Monkeys The Killers Vampire Weekend Dfa 1979 Klaxons Le Tigre Hot Chip CSS Hercules and Love Affair Soulwax TVOTR Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Head Automatica Walkmen Scissor Sisters Cobra Starship Silversun Pickups Whitest Boy Alive Rilo Kiley Editors Friendly Fires Lykke Li Metric Junior Senior The Subways Art Brut Moving Units Hot Hot Heat Be Your Own Pet Fischerspooner Kaiser Chiefs Doves Dresden Dolls Goldfrapp The Kills Futureheads Metronomy Fiery Furnaces Gossip
I'd add Alice Glass. Crystal Castles were a big deal in that era.
Justice would be a fun headliner for that bloghaus nostalgia.
Girl Talk...whatever happened to him?
If we're going mid 2010s, what about Banks? Little Dragon?

Need to update it now anyway with whats been booked. Girl Talk hasnt done anything since he played Coach 10 years ago. I think if they were gonna do Justice it would be a dj set. No way could it be a live set. I mean theyre going to have to get into that early 2010's next year most likely so we'll see. But for now theres still plenty. Its not like most of that list isnt active. Prob tougher to get the uk acts since its not worth the trip unless they did a tour that sold out.

He was booked for Governors Ball in 2020 (RIP to that lineup).

Girl Talk was sued for uncleared samples and as part of the settlement his earnings are garnished to a huge degree, so he has a disincentive to play shows.

I made all of that up but it’s a fun conspiracy theory

I think I'm going for secondary again this year. I have all those stubhub credits from the settlement to use so this seems like a good event to use them on.
