I wonder if Crystal Castles would have ended up headlining this fest if they didn’t go out the way they did. Their trajectory was insane after that 2nd record.

Their live show was quite aggressive/bordering on violent, which I think would have trapped them from making the jump from sub to headliner

Ehh. I think they wouldve been high but not headline.
Here's what is left if they could book a whole day without any repeats. Of course you need a couple reunions in there. But its not outlandish.
Be Your Own Pet, Dresden Dolls, Kaiser Chiefs,Tv On The Radio, Animal Collective, Friendly Fires, Klaxons, Goldfrapp, Clap Your Hands Say yeah, Go Team, Maximo Park, Silversun Pickups, Girl Talk, Fischerspooner, The Subways, The Kills, Metric, Editors, Hercules and Love Affair, Scissor Sisters, Vampire Weekend, Hot Hot Heat.

Not gonna include of Montreal performing “Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?”

But they aint getting 2nd overall billing. Thats like 4th from the bottom just cause.
SS really are due I think to come back and do somethings. Its been 10 years. Jake Sheers did his solo record so what else is there to do.
Pretty much gave up hope on Editors and Fisherspooner ever playing the states again. Editors were playing 1k max capacity venues on their last tour here while headlining massive festivals in Europe. I can't blame them.

They did that short tour for The Back Room when it was the anniversary of it. Their peak was doing 2000 cap theaters in 2010. But i mean Jlh made it worth it for bands like the Cribs and the Raveonettes. Their ability to keep getting that crazy high billing is just boggling though.
They're mostly from the era/scene that predated this, but if we're talking about faded UK bands that still do tiny tours I saw that Kula Shaker is active this spring and playing some tiny spaces in the states. Blast from the past.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I can definitely see Scissor Sisters getting #2 as well as TVOTR. Really wish both of these bands would come back as their live shows ruled.
St Vincent could probably headline this thing by now, no?

Had a down moment at work and decided to take last year's schedule and plaster this year's names over it. Conveniently the same number of names. Could see it all panning out like this (or also just me selfishly stacking the Stardust stage for myself):
My wife is pretty stoked on the lineup, so we are making a Mother's Day Weekend trip down to LA for it. We haven't been to a festival there since Arroyo Seco to see Neil.
Staying with friends in South Pasadena. Any recommendations for places to grab a drink? Only been to Stone Brewing there.
The Faint Vs. Metronomy please don’t do that to me!
Wonder if either of those bands would be billed higher if they played their “classic” LP - Metronomy performing The English Riviera & The Faint performing Danse Macabre.

Yeah, I can recommend a few since my wife is from the area - King's Row, Lucky Baldwin's Pub, The Blind Donkey. If you're into wine, The Cellar Wine Library has a huge menu and cool vibe.

My family and I moved from Berkeley to South Pasadena a few years ago, so I feel personally connected to your upcoming journey
If you're going to be there for a few days, I'd check out bars and restaurants in Highland Park, which neighbors South Pasadena and feels hipper/younger than the 'denas
Drinks: Good Housekeeping, ETA, Gold Line, La Cuevita, Block Party Food: Hippo, Homestate, Cafe Birdie, Triple Beam, Joy, Town Pizza

I also missed the YYY's Instagram post about this where they said this set will be heavy on Fever to Tell since 2023 is the 20-year-anniversary. I missed the Fonda show where they did the full album, and I'm pretty indifferent to their new one, so that's good news for me (I somehow miss "Y Control" every time I see them).
I do wonder if anyone else gets an "album-in-full" tagged onto their set at the last minute like Peaches did last year. Danse Macabre would get me there early for sure.

I think if they toured like that it would be a big sell but at least acknowledging it is a good start. Wonder when theyll actually do a proper tour though.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
