To be clear I also like metal and do not think I am violent. (Though I did kick someone in the shin once for pushing too hard on me at a Skrillex set in 2014.) Though in general with the implied constant murder happening at multigenre festivals in Finland in OP, I am thinking now it is more remarkable that more murders don’t occur at/around festivals, especially given the high concentration of substance use in one place.
The other day I got recommended an Instagram video of Dead & Co. at the Sphere. In the video, the giant screen displays the back half of an extended arena with skeletons filling the imaginary seats, as so:
The accompanying video, which was about 10 seconds long, featured a brief snippet of guitar noodling. I have no idea what song it was during. One thing I've come to notice from foolishly clicking on Instagram video comment sections a lot is that in comment sections haters tend to attract haters and this comment section was 90% haters. I have to assume maybe half those people were Tool fans since two of the top rated comments were about how Tool needs to play the Sphere, unlike these assholes. (an aside: while I hate Tool, I do think they would be a good Sphere band.) Anyway, here's a list of hateful comments about Dead & Co. at the Sphere. If it helps, imagine reading these in the voice of a Tool fan:
"That music is just plain horrible"
"Looks pretty lame. Like a show for idiots who didn't watch cartoons as kids."
"They even have everyone dancing to their own tune as if there's no actual live music playing. Well done!"
"Imagine watching experiencing gladiators fight at the Roman coliseum That would be cool simulation"
"I liked U2, but good God the grateful Dead just sounds like generic rock hold music that you'd hear calling a plumbing company. It's just an excuse for friends who are addicted to drugs to hang out."
"When the dead suck so bad they have to create fans enjoying themselves."
"So when does cannibal corpse play there and the imagery that goes with that? lmao"
"Sounds like when I'm just picking around on my guitar not really caring 😂"
"Tippers performance would be the best use of this space"
"Mannnn save this music for a bonfire somewhere Let's get ACDC here"
"This is the music they play in restaurants in the background and there's a family of 5 seated in the booth behind you. The podium is empty as a hostess tries to make it to the front and there is pleather seating near the entrance. It's getting full because it's 6PM on a Sunday in the summer. There's random shi on the walls and there's am empty bar with tvs above it running football, cnn, fox, and some random sport like tennis or golf." (I remain fascinated by people who write fanfiction like this about deeply personal experiences they've had. I cannot remember ever hearing the grateful dead playing at a restaurant. anyway, this comment had no likes, which I think is kind of a shame.)
I’ve noticed a lot lately that people on Boiler Room comment sections are really fucking mad all the time now. I was going to do a compilation of people being mad at Boiler Room, but it appears the most crucial arbiter of good taste in the world has already spoken:
Just got back from the comment section of a California EDM news Instagram page that just posted about Fred again dot dot headlining Coachella and let me tell you, the fans are polarized. We've got those who couldn't be less excited about the news:
"Went Salt Lake City show, was boring af. Just tells crowd he is depressedthen djs the same 5 songs and plays the piano for the rest of the show......"
"Love Fred, but I almost fell asleep at edc during his set, pace and flow was off for me. Not trying to take anything away from his talent and skill though."
"Fred again is Hella Mid. Coachella deserves better. Fred Again with Skrillex and Four Tet or NADA 😂"
"I will not be seeing you, edc was the worst set ever, I was rolling and fell asleep at your set. So boring, I do t get the hype honestly, and I am super open minded."
"I miss all the indie acts and when tool. Depeche mode. Nine inch nails. Cold play. Those were good ones. Get rufus du sol to play live, @ coachella bring back the good bands ❤️"
"Not exactly hype to hear but then again if you follow music, the forthcoming Coachella will be mid no matter what they book." [@ this guy if you're reading this do you want to come to Inforoo and argue about Dua Lipa with us or something]
But there are rebuttals!
"People consistently expect full hourand a half jungle sets from him when his range is so wide! People say they expect different when they don't actually listen to his discography. This would be a vibe."
"The Coliseum show was a very special experience. A headlining Fred set at Chella would be so good! I'm happy about this" ...but of course you're not here for the back and forth. The civilized debate. Here's what you're really here for:
"Was expecting a daft punk reunion 😢"
"I saw him in Denver. Nice guy but more like Fred Never Again lol"
"We have enough trash in the camp sites ...."
"Lol the lil wayne of the dj world 😂😂😂😂" [?]
"Milli Vanilli headliners!!" [??]
"That Diddy Money hits different. No hate good for him." [?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????]
"Wack dj" [There was a 31 comment back and forth under this comment. This person really wants Karol G to play and did not list any other electronic artists. Not sure they're on the right page.]
And way down at the bottom, a single final lone commenter says what we're all thinking:
i actually reached out to MW about tickets, it's crazy, he is ready to play the show but needs me to send him some amazon gift cards so he can get across the border. also he is in love with me and we are going to get married on the beach at the show.

Don't throw chairs at Mexican cops. They make you pay HUGE bribes in Amazon gift cards to get you out of Mexican jail

Haven't found any great screenshots yet but on their subreddits, r/hardcore r/EDM and r/popheads love the Coachella lineup, r/indieheads r/bonnaroo and r/festivals hate it, but most of all everyone is ~really~ excited about Yo Gabba Gabba!

that's a lot of local openers for a Jimmy Eat World show 🤘🔥
How many of these acts actually play instruments?
When will they reveal the headliners?
I’ve got two VIP tickets for weekend 1, I’m transferring them for less than what they costed me! I bought them but didn’t like the lineup 😬 if anyone’s interested!
JENLISA OMFGGGG, YOU WILL BE "THE MOMENT", ICONSSSS
Either i’m too old now or this lineup is whack! Gaga is opening on a friday? Posty is baller but does anyone other than me n countless Germans remember Kraftwerk?
Not my favorite lineup, but a vast improvement. People should know that no one puts on a better show than people that actually know how to sing, rap eloquently, and play musical instruments skillfully! editor's note: they did not specify what they were talking about in the replies
Hi po Coachella! Hope you include our best group SB19 -- PPOP KINGS from my beautiful country Philippines! Their arduous experiences and talents were superb and we also stan them coz of their kindness and beautiful hearts. The best of them is they are the MONSTERS OF STAGE everytime they perform! Looking forward in a positive way.. God bless!😇🙏💐
Fatman Scoop deserves better than to be used as a caption punchline smh editors note: what
