I don't expect you to believe me and I've literally stated otherwise. You're being disingenuous and ascribing motivations and actions to me that aren't even there, so I really don't care whether you think I'm a "creep" or not, buddy.
So you dropped a piece of information that someone accused a guy behind this very popular show of doing something shitty, but you gave literally no information other than that it was on a podcast, not who said it, what they were talking about, what podcast, nothing. And then you act like people are being intrusive/entitled/obnoxious/whatever when they ask for a little bit of context. With no context, it’s impossible to make any sort of evaluation about the allegation, and by acting like that’s not frustrating, it seems like you’re being kind of obtuse. What was the point of sharing that part of the information if you weren’t going to say anything else? You’re obviously under no obligation to say more, but like, why bring it up in the first place then?
Because he's a monster! All kidding aside, this is such a weird knowledge flex to dangle it without expecting more questions. So weird that I don't think he should be surprised about more questions. Everyone is in here talking about how much we love the show then he came in a dropped an incredibly vague bomb that took all the wind out of the sails of a celebratory conversation. This isn't akin to whether or not foo fighters are playing a festival. This is an allegation. And of course my mind went to the worst case scenario when the word "assault" was mentioned. I hate to say it but what kind matters. I can live with someone getting pushed or even punched but there are things that I'm definitely not gonna be okay with. And OF COURSE WE DONT WANT IT TO BE TRUE. We like the show. Thats why we want to know. We want to be able to like the show without wondering if the show runner is a creep or deserves to be in jail. Simple stuff here.

I don't remember you being one who takes the wind out of things for fun or who enjoys diluting things that people enjoy, but you just took the shine off of an otherwise wholeheartedly positive experience people were having. You turned an exclamation point into a question mark.
For now I'm going to continue enjoying my favorite show in years instead of letting a rumor on a music festival board ruin it, but it's in the back of my mind. If it's true, then I'll adjust accordingly. And it's important to note that I want to know if it's true because I don't want to support something that is created by someone who is abusing someone else.

I'm still gonna watch it and I hope you all do too. I don't think it's a show-ruining thing because I don't think Mazin matters or has anything to do with the show's success. I think it's a really great video game that's being adapted into a show because the story is fully formed already.

This could not be more incorrect. He's the EP and showrunner. He wrote or had a hand in writing the scripts for seven of the nine episodes in the first season. He has the sole writing credit on Episode 3, which is the one that has, so far, made the biggest impact, which meant a lot to a lot of people, and which also added a lot that was not in the game. As showrunner, he has a say in everything, from casting (Pedro Pascal has directly stated that one of the reasons he chose the project was so he could work with Mazin) to production design to overall tone and feel. Not to mention that his enthusiasm for the game as a TV adaptation and the fact that he was coming off the big success that was Chernobyl probably helped a lot in HBO greenlighting the thing in the first place.
If all it took for a video game adaptation to come out well were a fully-formed story, the landscape wouldn't be littered with the shit that it is in that regard. What The Last of Us is as a TV show owes a ton to Mazin. So, yeah, if it turns out he's an abusive fuck, it's going to impact how a lot of people view and approach the series.
