Replaying TLOU and I forgot how action packed Bill’s section was. Really fun. And also, how drastically different Bill’s and Frank’s relationship and ending were.
I have the most posts in the history of this website lol.
This is a title that will probably always have an asterik bc, in his younger years, garageland would randomly delete and purge his account every year then create a new one a couple days later. Lord only knows how many posts he actually has. Haha.
I know someone else who could, possibly, say the same.... :-)
The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for personal self-governance. To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. Only in dire emergencies should a person is not return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore it presents as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do so.
Do you think they’ll tone down Ellie’s revenge path? I’m not sure if they can get away with just how many people she kills in this game, especially Owen and his pregnant wife. I’m already expecting Red Wedding esque reactions from that. The show has made big changes to show a more softer side to the game (Bill and Frank) but it’s just damn near impossible with this 2nd game.
There’s really not much more story to go with how fast they rushed it. It’ll be Ellie fighting the cannibals into Joel coming back next episode. Last episode will be them arriving at the hospital and you know what and should be 90 mins long. The cliffhanger being Joel lying to Ellie as they get back to Jackson.
But now I’m nervous how much they will cut for TLOU2.

This show gets me every damn week. What a great parallel with Ellie and her love for Riley and also her love for Joel. Someone elsewhere pointed out that she gave someone stitches out of anger and then someone else stitches out of love which is another nice touch on this story.

Supposedly episode 9 is really short, comparatively. I still think they wrap up the first game, though. Can't think of how else to end it

An article I read said episode 9 is actually the shortest one of the entire season.
In a way, I guess the hospital doesn't have as much story to tell when you pare it down to the basics. They get there. Joel finds out they have to kill Ellie in the process. Joel goes full rampage. Joel lies to Ellie. Fin.
Agreed with itrainmonkeys. I will be incredibly frustrated if they don't end the season with the same shot as the game because it's such an iconic ending in recent gaming.

I wish I had a show that centered a little normal-looking lesbian when I was a kid or even college. Would've gone a long way. Fucking love this show. Bella Ramsy and Storm Reid blew it away.
Posting this for posterity, before I read other posts or reviews or listen to podcasts: I thought that was a bad episode of television.
It seems to be the most divisive episode among watchers. A lot of people calling it boring or filler (even more so than episode 3). Considering it's part of the video game extra content I think fans of the game are much more open to it and probably enjoyed it more than just show watchers overall.
I enjoyed it but I could see people disliking some elements of it. Especially how they kind of tried to do a fakeout by not being totally clear at the beginning that this was a flashback.
i liked the episode and forgot about that dlc but also it was a little disappointing that the entire ep was a flashback bc i have no idea how theyll cram the rest of the games plot into the last two eps

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 2 seasons of the first game unless it’s been confirmed it’s 1:1

Got it, good to get some context.
I am also predisposed to hate flashback episodes, so that doesn't help, but overall I found it to be a very boring episode that didn't reveal anything about our characters we don't already know.

there's not nearly enough content to make an entire extra season out of

it does allude to Riley being the person Ellie had to shoot/kill when she told Joel she had shot someone before. Not sure if they'll show that, but the episode makes it pretty clear since Ellie was wearing the same clothes she was wearing in episode 1. That sorta makes the episode carry more weight.
