TWD has ruined me and I kept waiting for them to be cannibals or something.
I was only off by one group.
A lot of people thought the previous episode was slow, but for me it was the first half of this episode. The second half made up for it though. Ellie fucking destroyed that guy.

was molested could murder their molester into bits for as long as she needed to, followed immediately by a "it's ok babygirl", hug, and another jacket to keep her warm.

Consistently surprises me how close the scenes are at times.
They missed the part where Joel performs a stealth kill in the basement
Just when I thought the show was taming down the brutal aspects of the game, they go and make David a religious pedophile nut. Good stuff. It’s amazing how closely they got this episode to the game while completely changing the character of David. The pay off with Joel embracing Ellie made it all worth it. Showing the actual people David was caring for brings a new perspective now that they are pretty much fucked with all the hunters and providers dead.
I’m really feeling they are gonna nail the finale now. It’s going to be a wild emotional ride next week.
I did kinda miss David and Ellie fending off the infected since that brought them even closer together but they chose to do it with dialogue, I suppose. Still a great episode.
stabs that guy precisely *behind* his knee cap and then says, "He can't help you. You focus right here or I'll pop your fucking knee cap off," gave me the fuuuuucking willies, man. We've all seen a lot of fucked up shit on tv, in movies, in life, but dear god. I'll pop your fucking knee cap off?? Woof. And then Ellie getting quick justice on that pedophilic fuck by cleaver-ing him to bits with blood splattering onto the screen in a burning building and then the beautiful reunion of being embraced by the only person she truly trusts mere seconds afterwards. This program, y'all.

Your post is not spoilery bc it's about an episode that already aired. The part that got me about the kneecap was how specific it was. Nothing vague or left to interpretation. Just a very specific and violent threat. Also, given the circumstances, there's no coming back from that. Even if you live, you will never ever walk right again in a world where you are almost certainly going to need to run on occasion.
The look on her face as she stabbed the pedo cannibal over and over was so compelling. Just incredible work on her part.
I kinda forgot that cannibalism typically comes up in this genre. Fun to see TLOU's take on that. The version of it that always struck me as the most true and haunting was its use in The Road (novel, not film). It's such a bleak book anyway and then there's one part that gets even worse. This image has stuck with me for years:
The father and son see a chained pregnant woman being led by a group of men. Later they come across their campsite and there's a baby roasting on a spit.
Anything less than that is just fun cannibalism to me haha. Glad Ellie didn't turn into cult chow.

Kneecaps, Achilles tendon, and eyes. Those are the kind of torture in movies and shows that I just can't put up with. Cut off my arm chop off a foot but don't show someone slice someone else's Achilles tendon long ways

Teeth for me. This scene basically scarred me for life:

Finally caught up on this, I'm enjoying this show but it feels kinda insanely rushed to me. Like there are good stories in each episode but then they're basically concluded by episode end. Kinda making it hard for me to feel attached to any characters (character shows up -> dies; repeat). It almost feels like each episode is a level in a game which kinda makes sense, but idk. still enjoying and watching

Agreed they laid it out with each episode being a level of the game and that I end up feeling rushed because you don't sit in each section as long. With the success of the show and interviews stating the second game will be two seasons, I hope that allows them to slow the pace down some. Think it would make the series better.

I for one appreciate a return to episodic TV with an overarching narrative. I would love to see more of the two-part arcs like we saw with episodes 4-5, though. Shows like Andor have done quite well with this model.

There's 2 characters to care about. And damn they've made me care.
