Hey, I added a spoiler tag around one part. It's not reaasallly a spoiler what you posted but there are people here who haven't played the game and don't know what to expect
sorry - I saw it at the end credits so I thought it was fair play!

Yeah I haven't played the game but could tell next week's episode is a flashback just from the preview's obvious setting (it was mentioned in episode 2 I believe). And the fact that Storm Reid said in a made-public interview that her character was involved in a flashback episode.

I haven’t seen Storm Reid in anything since Wrinkle in Time (one of my favorite books) - pumped for next week
. Also, I kept trying to place Maria's actress. Looked her up after the ep and I know her from True Blood.
It's Tara! I couldn't remember who she was but I knew she looked familiar.
I can't remember names to save my life, but I got a lock on faces. I recently started watching Succession and couldn't shake knowing Rava from somewhere. Turns out she was in one episode of The Leftovers, and that's all it takes for me.

Enjoying this a lot so far. Maybe not quite as much as TWD S1 but I actually did love the first two seasons of that show.
The third episode was insane. Cried badly and then the second time I watched it I had to make a lot of weird faces to not cry again. I’m a sucker for the passage of time and stuff.
This feels weird I’ve never watched a good show when it’s first season was airing. I always wait until I’ve heard a million people say something is awesome fro like 2-3 seasons.

MY WIFE, STONE-FACED, AFTER EPISODE 3: Well, that was moving.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

The 3rd episode was the best LGBTQ movie I’ve seen in a long time.
And a general reminder to everyone - if it is from the game or sequel game, or is a leaked photo or something from set please use spoiler tags and briefly label what the spoiler comment is about.
Try to stick to only what has aired so far in the regular discussion for everyone who has no idea where the story may go or details about characters (that we've met 9r haven't met yet).
Even if discussing the preview for next episode.......please don't discuss what you may know based on the games. Seems like the pre iew was designed a certain way on purpose
I wasn't on the site back in the Game of Thrones heyday, how'd y'all handle that mess? Lol

Because that show was big enough we ended up splitting it to two threads: Book Reader Thread and Non-Reader Thread. If it demands it for this show we can do that but it seems like so far it's not as huge as GOT was in its prime.
I have a general knowledge or what happens in the games and I still hate myself for making me watch these episodes knowing that I basically know what's coming and still being devastated.

it's been long enough since I've played the first game that I forgot about Sam and Henry and that fucked me up pretty good

I assumed because they didn't want to include it in the recap and they definitely wanted to hammer home how impactful it was on Joel. When he has the heart wrenching scene with Tommy and he explains about a man killing his brother for Ellie and also the running theme of Joel having anxiety over losing Ellie I thought it was fine.

For anyone interested, IGN has been doing a series of game vs. show videos after each episode. I'm sure other people have been doing them as well, but these were the first ones to pop up for me.

Yeah, I've loved comparing some scenes. They use a LOT more than I expected from the game verbatim but even when they make slight changes they are getting the message across and in some cases works better.

Plus shock value lol
This is almost certainly why but it made little sense to have that and not cut to Joel so it’s clear it’s him ruminating on it and not just some random flashback that comes across as a reminder. I would still find that clunky and unneeded but better cinematically than cutting to an intro of a new character coming home from hunting. Happy Tara the “communist” was a nice surprise. I recognized her voice before she took her bandanna off.
