Well that is what I'm saying - I don't know! I'm trying to entertain the idea that pink is lying, but I don't know what the intended motivation would be. I guess there is a world where mafia is just axing two random townies, but I feel like it is more likely they would trying to be strategic, and I don't see the strategy there which makes it feel less likely that he is lying.
I don't see how they'd feel confident in MD being inspo after the first day - that just doesn't make sense (that they're super confident - not that he couldn't be inspector). I've done enough of these games to see inspo behavior, and I don't think there was anything conclusive about what MD was doing. I guess yeah, they could have had the thought that cum was inspector - that would explain the move - but that doesn't make much sense to me based on cum's behavior. Unless I'm missing something here... In which case, please let me know what I'm not seeing!

ok so as D2 proceeded, i honestly increasingly had the feeling that MD was inspo (but i sure as fuck wasnt going to write that in thread, town should never bait for inspo reveal or stake claims about them almost certainly being dead) just by way of how the conversation was going and where lines were being drawn - but i did also consider the idea that cum was inspo with pink's name. THAT is part of why ive been "protecting" her aka trying to get people not to vote for her throughout D2; post fake reveal, now im just standing up to her because i dont want maf to be able to not only get me out through this but take a townie cum down with it, too.
if i as town felt like inspo seemed dead D2 if it wasn't cum with pink name, then surely maf picked up similar vibes - if they thought it was between MD inspo dead or cum inspo with pink's name, then faking in this scenario is perfect for them. get cum in exile position so if she does come out with pink's name, what does it even matter, he's dead anyway with his "reveal" (self-whacked tonight or exiled after me from town), and their inspector is dead with only having the one name (if inspo had two names, they wouldve come out already - so if my sense is correct here, they were banking on MD as inspo or cum as inspo with pink's name and not a second one to confirm). sets them up for a pretty easy win after that.
i agree there was nothing conclusive seeming from my perspective of what MD said or did, but maf can see things we don't since they know all 3 names that could be the given of course, and i think it was likely more that they picked up on a vibe of how discussion was going in circles throughout D2 in a way that oftne happens when inspector is no longer alive.

Going by the idea that MD was inspector- MD voted for Pink and Durkle round one and got whacked. Nobody else has stepped forward claiming inspector so either a) MD is inspector and maf got him. b) Pink is inspo and Rummy is maf. or C) We're all wrong and this game is just a regular old maf shitshow where inspo is still trying to avoid a whack.
With the idea that either pink or durkle decided to whack MD, it should implicate the two of them. Pink is the only one out of those two on the chopping block. Tomorrow, I'm still voting Rummy. Love your thinking, but we're also voting out a claimed inspo on your word and initial claim. I'd be interested to see what happens in the whacking.
Cum has at least one mafia member left to team up with if they're mafia, assuming we got potent voted out as mafia day one. I think it's unlikely, but a possibility to consider. you and dan hammering in this idea that townies dont opt to vote out KNOWN MAFIA (in this case, only myself out of townies know 100% that you are) is driving me insane. dan says "find the games" but i truly cannot recall a single time this has happened and him claiming this has led me to be more and more sus of him (whereas at the beginning of this fake, i wasnt thinking he was a partner with you). i cant find games where this happened if they dont exist.
also dan knows well that self-whacks can and do happen. so him going on and on about how i need to vote for who im pretty fucking sure is town (cum) instead of keeping my vote on known mafia so that it "confirms for town" is BS because mafia could self-whack here so the supposed "confirmation" of pink being inspo would be a false one.

Ok this mostly makes sense but a couple things to consider. One is point C is highly unlikely. if pink is faking and real inspector is still alive, they are doing town a disservice by staying hidden and not countering the claim. In points A and B the best option available is to exile cum here and force mafia to decide what they want to do with pink during the night phase. If pink is faking , it puts mafia in a tough spot by not exiling him. Do they self whack? Do they keep him alive knowing it means he’s dead? This is valuable valuable information. Also If pink isn’t faking, and we exile him, then town has done mafia’s job for them and they can pick anyone to whack. If we exile pink here we are arguing for the rest of the game whether or not he’s inspector. Why not actually know by forcing mafia to make a move?
Make no mistake. Mafia will be laughing at us in their DMs if we exile pink here. It makes the game so much easier for them. Regardless if he’s faking or not.
