I’m prepared to get flamed, but am I the only one who finds Blink embarrassing? Really embarrassing to see 50 year old dudes sing these songs, but then again, I never understood the appeal.
As someone who saw them play in backyards and local San Diego clubs in the late 90s, they've always been embarrassing. At least they are consistent.
The thing is though Tom and Mark never sounded good live. They’ve always been a sloppy live band and have always said nothing but dick and fart jokes in between songs
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

their contemporaries have always had contempt for them it seems like, and I don't even think it's unfair. but the kids who came up behind you revered them because we were 13, and this is taking me straight back to that lmao

It's wild that I saw Manchester Orchestra, My Chemical Romance and Blink on the same bill in 2011/12 Even more wild is the fact I got choked out in a mosh pit during MCR while I was wearing a Gumby costume
Blink is doing their thing- juvenile/adolescent pop punk. But they are the best at it! Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you’ve gotta admit- Travis Barker rules. If he isn’t THE best rock drummer, he’s in the top three…

The Blink stage banter is painful, especially with them talking over each other, but the songs are quite fun. I even think both their vocals sound pretty good 😁
Blink's schtick felt embarrassing for a long time, but that's what made it fun, if that makes any sense. They were one of the KROQ house bands in the 2000's, so I feel like I saw them at every Weenie Roast and Acoustic Christmas.

Yeah but now they're in their 50s lol it's more embarrassing now

does it matter how old they are? They're having fun and honestly, this is what their fans expect out of them. Is it a little cringe? yea. But it's also exactly what i was expecting from them, and I'm kinda happy that their dynamic hasn't changed. They still seem like childhood friends. I'm just happy that they don't seem to be holding any animosity towards each other.
now we just need Tom to sing like a normal fucking person and we'll be golden.
