Jai Paul sounds pretty great to me on the replay as I'm making my breakfast. Not as good as Rosalia, but the rarity factor would make a really tough choice for me if I was going W2

Wasn’t sure if I should buy tickets to Boygenius in June, but that set was fucking awesome. I found The Record to be hit and miss, but that performance sold me.
Oof. Rewound to BLACKPINK, that was Blink 182 levels of embarrassment. Gotta be one of the worst headliners in a while.
Everyone I know who was actually at either one of those sets thought they were great. Not sure either is embarrassing.
If they’re in to those styles of music, so be it. BLACKPINK were just really bland and lame. The tardiness, obvious backing tracks, it was over choreographed. I’m sure it’s fine if you’re into it, but going in blindly to watch it, I thought they were pretty bad compared to Rosalia before them. Like Harry Styles last year, him and BP look and sounded overly rehearsed, inauthentic, and just boring.
Underworld have been great as expected, definitely on par with Chems the night before.
Lol. Is it possible for KPOP to be “over choreographed”? That’s like their whole thing…
Also, just finished Rosalia and that felt like a headliner set. Do we think she’ll get to a point where she headlines a major US festival? Bc she feels fucking ready. But I don’t think any of my non-music nerd friends know who she is.
The Yard dream is over. Keinemusik or DoLab for me.
Same - I love dancehall actually and I love a lot of the songs being dropped, but this crowd energy is dead, and even verging on sketchy. Half the people in this crowd I am not sure even understand where they are but are just so high that they've wandered here. I think this thing would have gone off at 3:45pm in the Gobi. See you at Keinemusik although if I'm trashed enough I can see myself ending up at Calvin.
yep that's disappointing to hear but not a set that would be fun if it's empty. sounds like it'll be Keinemusik or Do Lab

Over choreographed may be the gimmick of the genre, but it doesn’t make it great or make for a great performance honestly.
As far as Rosalia, I’m not high on her like others are, but her set was pretty good. I don’t know if she’ll ever headline something this big. It’s not because she doesn’t have the chops, she clearly does, but I don’t think her music is accessible enough to draw in a larger crowd, but I could be wrong.

You are legitimately the first person I’ve seen have something negative to say about that Harry Styles set

She’s the 51st most streamed artist in the world on Spotify. She was second billed on her day and could’ve easily had top billing over Blackpink.
If she doesn’t headline a major US fest isn’t he next five years it will be because of a Chance the Rapper-like dip in quality or a lack of output. If she continues on the trajectory she’s in, she’s a sure bet

I mean the cheering at her crowd was easily the loudest of any act on the livestream. People there said her crowd was enormous.

take Harry’s name out of your mouth.
Leave my husband alone. His set last year was so dope.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Just getting around to the Jai Paul set. Was reading there were some mixing issues live but the stream sounds great. Jai sounds pretty great and gives off serious Mitch Hedberg stage vibes but definitely seemed to be having a good time. Hopefully, this will lead to more shows and music.

Great time watching Underwolrd/Prydz with the wife last night, really the only FOMO I felt so far other than Jai Paul.
Was no one bothered that Blackpink would frequently hit flat notes and seemed to give up near half through? I thought the backup dancers we’re incredible and yeah the songs are fun, but if they end up half assing it what’s the point? Also Blink weren’t that bad.

I never listened to Jai Paul until the lineup came out, but aside from some sound issues near the start with his vocals being low, he and his band sounded great. Granted, it’s his first show, so there could understandably be lots of nerves, but part of me thinks he’s taking the piss out of it and deliberately being stoic.

Anyone calling Blink’s set “embarrassing” must have never been a fan. That was hands down the best they’ve sounded since 2003. That entire set list plus their ridiculous banter absolutely nailed why people fell in love with them 25 years ago.
It was also impressive to see how much weight Tom has lost, and how healthy Mark looked after battling cancer.
