Considering the rumors about Coachella selling better than ever, plus this post from Festive Owl...is the festival bubble building again?
also boston calling flat out selling out on saturday months before is a good indicator. its only sold out 1 day before. demand for festivals is absolutely increasing now that we’re essentially behind the pandemic

The Owl is a shill for Bonnaroo and he's just pushing propaganda. Bonnaroo will "sell out" but they're not suddenly moving 80k tickets again.
Also the day of BC that sold out is kind of misleading - weirdly, it seems that faux-americana as a genre is doing extremely well right now. But you can get tickets for the festival itself well under face, three-day passes are still available, as are Friday and Saturday.

Mt Joy is so so so good. I would be hype for them as a 2024 booking.

Did Bonnaroo lower their capacity for tickets?
They could and nobody will know it unless the numbers are made public.

I don’t think so. I think some of the larger numbers reported in the past included volunteers. I believe it came out a few years back that the 80k number is their ticketed capacity.
Dua Lipa / RÜFÜS DU SOL SZA / Karol G Olivia Rodrigo / Steve Lacy
Steve Lacy isn't subbing but The Internet might. It'll be nuts when they finally put out another album together, now that their solo careers are booming

Olivia Rodrigo headline would be nuts also. And I say that as a fan.
She would need to have another album at some point this year that is so good that it elevates her to Billie status. Otherwise I think she'd be hype for a sub-slot anyways.

Olivia subs next year and Lolla puts her in the top 8 and Acl top 6, but thats probably where it goes along with an arena tour. If ACL doesnt have her on their lineup in a couple weeks then coach is prob in the clear of getting that booking so there isnt any LN bs getting in the way.
So since they got Jai Paul out of hiding along with the bold font subs, now the Sade manifesting begins again?

I don't know who first mentioned it, but I'm coming around to the idea of Shakira headlining. She's having a huge moment right now in terms of commercial success and recognition (she is supposedly receiving Woman of the Year honors at Billboard's inaugural Latin Women in Music event).
Dua Lipa/Cardi B SZA/Rufus Du Sol Shakira/Olivia Rodrigo
Regarding the post questioning if Coachella would book 3 pop/R&B headliners, it could be argued that Coachella already did that in 2023.

I think that's a believable set of headliners. I also think this would be a very strong set of subs.
But I just can't shake that it feels so 2022. Who had Gorillaz and Bjork on their bingo card as subs in 2023? Literally no one. I think there just needs to be at least one completely out of left-field booking. Getting someone like a Stevie Nicks to accept a sub or "Welcoming to the Desert" type slot. That sounds absurd but the 2023 line up was kind of absurd.

Yeah, I see what you mean. To be fair, Shakira would probably surprise a lot of people. If the headliners and subs are pop-heavy, I could see them booking a big rock/alternative act (e.g., The Strokes) in the "Returning to the Desert" spot, assuming that continues next year.

Returning to the Desert: Nine Inch Nails is the dream I’m holding onto. Doesn’t make sense at all with how the first two acts they did that with were massive electronic acts, but it’s a dream. Maybe NIN subbing for Rage is more realistic after Gorillaz and Bjork.

Stevie Nicks was booked as a sub at Gov Ball 2020. I don’t think it’s too crazy to think Coachella could get her to be a sub.

I would love this, but perhaps better to me would be a "Trent Rezor & Atticus Ross" mid-second line billing on the Outdoor before an electronic closer instead and have them work in a unique show

Them doing their film scores would be an even bigger get for me. Them on the outdoor would be so damn good.

I bet they would want to do Mojave. But Im down regardless.
Book Pete Tong and Ibiza Classical for Outdoor and give people the hybrid of dance and strings.

That show ain’t coming close to fitting in the Mojave as soon as the lineup drops and people realize they did The Social Network, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Soul, Gone Girl, even the music for the Watchmen series far outshines the show itself in my opinion. I’d be wildly disappointed if I had to be nut to butt in a tent if they pulled off that booking.

I feel Pavement would be either a great RTTD or WK1 surprise like Blink, they're og's from the first lineup with a cult following and will have not been to the fields for over 14 years.
And hell yes if Reznor is doing scores I might buy VIP
