I don't know who first mentioned it, but I'm coming around to the idea of Shakira headlining. She's having a huge moment right now in terms of commercial success and recognition (she is supposedly receiving Woman of the Year honors at Billboard's inaugural Latin Women in Music event).
Dua Lipa/Cardi B SZA/Rufus Du Sol Shakira/Olivia Rodrigo
Regarding the post questioning if Coachella would book 3 pop/R&B headliners, it could be argued that Coachella already did that in 2023.
Bad Bunny is at least an internatonal act and somewhat a rapper, feels different than 3 female pop/r&b singers W2 had an edm trio and a band in Blink 182 Blackpink is a pop group
I bet they would want to do Mojave. But Im down regardless.
Book Pete Tong and Ibiza Classical for Outdoor and give people the hybrid of dance and strings.
That show ain’t coming close to fitting in the Mojave as soon as the lineup drops and people realize they did The Social Network, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Soul, Gone Girl, even the music for the Watchmen series far outshines the show itself in my opinion. I’d be wildly disappointed if I had to be nut to butt in a tent if they pulled off that booking.
Somehow Labrinth ended up in there for better or worse. If there is something else that had to be on Outdoor because of production values on that respective day and such then itll be tricky. HTDA closed out a tent so this would need to be stage closing I bet. Fun to dream for now.
Rage Against the Machine with System of a Down sub
Rihanna with Lana #2 then Lorde #3
While just a dream and the idea of GV and Odd Future coming together after this past year at all looks absolutely implausible, it was at least quite a bit more coherent than my typical Coachella lineup dreams which are full of headliners and entire lineups of acts I don't recognize.

Absolutely "or worse" and even though Labrinth ended up in the Mojave, 85% of the people that tried didn't.

I mean, I think Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross would be cool but I don't think it will draw as huge of a crowd as y'all are making it out to be. Mojave would probably be fine.

Especially if it was night time against a headliner like Labrinth

HTDA wasn’t an Oscar winning musical duo. The general public don’t know who HTDA is or that Reznor is in it. The stage production only worked on a smaller stage with all the IV tubing hanging from the ceiling. Other than the fact Trent is a part of both projects it’s an apples to oranges comparison.
Coachella has a weird obsession with putting acts on stages too small for their crowd size. Are they really that oblivious or they think it's cool to see a mad over flooded tent? Blondie, Labrinth, Metro all should have been outside. (And Blink wk1)

Theyre called agents and they do a thing where they essentially want an underplay at the festival. ''hey look, labrinth had the mojave so packed he needs to be main stage at festival xyz later on. hype!''. That happened for example at Glastonbury last year for Wet Leg. They played The Park Stage at 2:30pm with a main stage size crowd cause their agent wanted that slot on purpose even though they easily couldve been on Pyramid or Other Stage cause of their popularity at that moment.

I know they already have 4 SoCal shows this year, but I wonder if The Cure would accept a “Returning to the Desert” billing rather than being billed as an outright headliner

i mean its possible as they had 4th overall at ACL in 2019 but their last tour was all smaller 8000cap arenas with a few full size one. this whole tour is multiple sold out nights at 20000cap venues. now that they can see the demand, i feel like they’d demand HL billing if they were booked. Also they are shockingly popular with my generation, i know a lot of people who were pissed they didnt get tix who i wouldnt have even expected to like them.
some of y'all are taking the returning to the desert thing a bit too far. The Cure and Pearl Jam? They are much bigger than Calvin Harris and SHM. Come on lol.

The Cure would be siiiiick at Coachella. Book them, the Mexican Morrisey impersonator from L.A, Peso Pluma and that would be a dream for me

Totally agree about Pearl Jam, but would The Cure really draw a bigger crowd than Calvin Harris at Coachella these days? And as mentioned earlier, they were billed second on their day after Childish Gambino at ACL in 2019. Either way, I think it’s extremely unlikely Coachella would book The Cure in 2024.

Calvin had by far the biggest crowd of the weekend
