Let's say they got Talking Heads, and let them pick their opener a la Gorillaz/Bjork. Who do y'all think it would be? I had figured LCD would work perfectly, but they're out now. St. Vincent's definitely not big enough but I could see her getting somewhere on the bill with Byrne (she was working on new music with Nile Rodgers earlier this year as well).

But seriously, I think picks like LCD Soundsystem or St. Vincent might be too like-for-like for an opener. Like if we would've asked this same question for Bad Bunny or Frank Ocean, nobody here would've guessed Gorillaz or Björk. For my mock I kinda had to guess who they'd have a great appreciation for and thankfully David Byrne puts out playlists somewhat frequently. Originally I had Halsey opening up for Talking Heads since David listed Bad At Love as one of his favorite songs. Looking at who else he has included in his playlists, I also considered Peso Pluma.
And for Dua Lipa, my original pick was A$AP Rocky since she's apparently a huge fan of his but if not him, I think she'd go with a hip-hop artist as an opener.
It's funny - you're right that we'd never have predicted Gorillaz/Bjork, but I also think they work perfectly. Lana feels too different to me, but I wouldn't be shocked I suppose. A$AP/Dua makes total sense though.

All her 2024 Europe shows have been headliner slots thus far. Also front of the billing. She had a massive year last year, I can’t see her team taking the sub slot with the numbers she pulls.
I think if we see her on the lineup it’s a RTTD or a Sunday closer. Or a co-headline but does Coachella even do that anymore?
I would be so down for Tyler honestly, but I am kind of biased because I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. But he would put on a hell of a show. Him and Lana would definitely pull tickets from the zoomer demo which Coachella seemingly caters more towards these days anyways.
Unfortunately Botch seem adamant on social media that they are done again after these shows (technically after the EU shows in early 2024)
We'll see. I know they had discussed getting offers from festivals and such while they were sorting out their live return. But I dont know how they dont play even Furnace Fest or Sound And Fury at the very least if theyre going to decide against Coachella.

They could do it if they decide thats what they wanna do. In 2013 they gave Stone Roses and Blur 80 mins each. 2011 The Strokes got 65 and Kanye did 90. Considering the later curfew on fri and sat giving each act 90 mins is fair.
I think after this year, there’s no way they pick a slower act - like Lana - to close out the fest. OMG TBA showed that the crowd clearly wants something hype to end the weekend on

SAULT might be out. They posted a video implying they may be doing album shows in certain cities and LA is supposedly getting Black Is. I would guess that’s going to be its own show and not at Coachella ☹️

Rank their albums, so I know which cities to consider. I think the only ones Ive listened to are Black and Untitled.

I think she would headline with high energy RTTD closing MainStage after her
London getting 9 is so lucky, that album isn't even out anymore. Imagining hearing Bitter Streets live. If you are willing to travel and can only hit one show, I'd go see 9 for the rarity alone.
My area (LA) is getting Black Is and I'm excited, but might travel for 5 and 9. Hearing Masterpiece (from 5) and Bitter Streets (9) are the two experiences I want the most

Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
The last Sunday headliner that was great, for me, was Kendrick.
Eminem was fine, his performance was actually really solid, but that following Beyonce was really low energy wise. I wish they swapped days. I'm a HUGE Ariana fan, but yeah that performance wasn't amazing. SHM x The Weeknd, I found SHM's portion boring and, truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of Weeknd live after seeing him twice. It was fine. Frank was.. well, we know what happened. And I didn't attend weekend 2.
Frank Weekend One was amazing and I will die on that hill, history will absolve me! And I’m not a Frank Stan like that either.
Thank you, i wouldnt say it was amazing but aside from the lip synced tracks i actually really enjoyed the set. Particularly the renditions of White Ferrari, Crack Rock and Self Control

Godspeed alone made the set worth it. I’ve been to 6 Coachella’s and my favorite set at Coachella was Four Tet opening for Aphex Twin and still wouldn’t trade PHM’s W2 set which was a great stream for Franks Sunday set.
