So I don’t pay attention to the board for 2 days and all of a sudden The Rolling Stones are Headlining and a tweet from 10 years ago resurfaces. I’m mean I’m ALL for it…but are we sure? How sure? And I hope everyone has a joyous Christmas, holiday, kwanza, Boxing Day, however you spend the next few days!
Are we actually going with The Stones as a rumour? They’re one of my favourite bands so don’t want to get too excited. I’ve see. Them 3 times and they still bring it live (last time seeing them was 2019).
They've only done RTTD twice, right? Not sure we can draw too many patterns from that.
Only two RTTD, but have had artists perform after the headliner before. Of what I could find, Chemical Brothers after Björk in 02 (Sat) Black Star after NIN in 05 (Sun) Tiësto after RHCP in 07 and after Muse in 2010 (Both Sat) Chemical Brothers after Kings of Leon in 11 (Fri) SHM after Black Keys in 12 (Fri) The Weeknd after Jack White in 15 (Sat) Calvin Harris after Blackpink this year (Sat) If you count OMG TBA after Blink on Sun W2 And if all went as planned Calvin after RATM in 2020 and SHM after Harry in 22, both on Fridays. So that being said, Saturday might have had more, but Friday isn’t quite out of the option.
Love the analysis and not saying anyone's wrong, but just because there have been two RTTDs and both played after headliners doesn't seem to guarantee that there will always be RTTDs that play after headliners now.

I don’t know if RTTD will always play after a headliner but I’m pretty confident RTTD is here to stay off the basis that 80% of festivals use some form of “special guest” at the bottom now to stroke the ego of big artists they want to perform without booting another artist down.
So the AmEx VIP package is $2,400 and you essentially get like $2,000 worth of stuff ($1,200 VIP ticket, $300 in food vouchers, $300 Outstanding in the Field, and some merch). Am I missing something or are they really gonna jack the heck up out of prices in on sale?

Not sure if this really means much but did some digging on IORR looking for any Coachella connections with the Stones and found this from one of their leakers…
In the States, the Stones would only play festivals presented by or in partnership with their promoter, which include Jazz Fest and those at the Empire Polo Club where Coachella is held, as well as a few lower-profile and often smaller festivals, such as the now-dormant if not defunct Firefly festival. They do not include Bonnaroo, a rival festival. As mentioned above, Coachella has been headlined by acts of the Stones' generation in years past, but now generally serves a younger audience that favors younger artists, with older acts generally presented either at the Rose Bowl (often in mid-May) or in separate events at the polo field like Desert Trip (generally in early-mid October). That festival will return next year, I believe, but whether it will feature any previous headliner I don't know.
FWIW, someone else commented that SecondSet mentioned there was another festival they might be playing besides Jazzfest and judging from the above, I assume they were talking about Coachella.

gotta say this is exactly the kind of surprise headliner I was hoping for. wonder if they were a later booking and booked for whatever amount of money they offered Taylor after she refused. Hence them already having the two Sofi Stadium dates

I'm confused. Four straight pages of Rolling Stones talk. Did I miss something? Was there some reliable leak or clue that is hinting at this? Or are we just talking crazy because we know nothing about the line up drop...
Jay-z 2010 3 weeks after Staples arena show. I think someone dropped out(The Who same year as their Super Bowl hal time?) and it was a last minute thing.

Whats the WOW factor act for Coachella on the top lines in 2023 if Swift, Talking Heads and NSync arent happening? Stones with an open schedule starts to become viable especially when they genuinely relased one of the better 2023 albums. AEG is doing the Stones and Coachella so radius clause is moot.
Dua, Tyler, Lana are all valid headliners, but theres 6 other fests in North America that could get something equivelant.

I agree! I just wasn't aware that Coachella would break the radius clause for headliners. Turns out it's significantly more common than I thought.
I would still be hype for a LDR / Tyler the Creator / Dua Lipa style line-up, with a stacked undercard and no stage blackouts, but I do feel like it's lacking that "Coachella-wow" factor. It feels more like a Lollapalooza line-up. But locking down The Rolling Stones would give us that Coachella-exclusive headliner that we've become accustomed to getting each year.
The Rolling Stones are one of those bands I’ve always wanted to see before they break up or kick the bucket and i’d be delighted to see them at a place like Coachella where I could get pretty close without paying the $2k or whatever for an equivalent seat at a stadium show

Cochella and NOLA Jazz Fest 2024, if the latter is actually happening. Stones are only doing the US + Vancouver this year so anyone travelling is seeing something they havent been able to seen in years.
Still trying to find video or audio of Jagger near the end of Desert Trip W2 saying the venue was like singing into a blow dryer.

Theyre presenting it as a good value but its actually what it would cost straight up with fees. Sounds more attractive to a potential buyer anyway if you are trying to get multiple people involved. "Hey, we get this meal package thing with 5 star chefs! We get free parking! Merch bundle! Food credit!". You can easily burn through $300 of food in a couple days. It just makes it easier to hit purchase instesd of nabbing vip and then on the next screen theres the add ons and youre sitting there with the clock ticking and youre on the fence about stuff.

My point is it looks like it’s more expensive to bundle than to just straight up buy everything separate. Unless they’re planning on jacking up costs a lot, which they may
