Need someone under 30 to tell me how I should feel about The Rolling Stones.
Saw them on their US tour in 2019 and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to. Their old age is irrelevant and still to this day still perform better than many other current artists at a fraction of their age. If you want a true rock and roll show, then The Rolling Stones are what you are looking for!
The Rolling Stones are one of those bands I’ve always wanted to see before they break up or kick the bucket and i’d be delighted to see them at a place like Coachella where I could get pretty close without paying the $2k or whatever for an equivalent seat at a stadium show
They sell mystery tickets for $50 to their shows on a tour. You can get front row or nosebleeds but youre in the building. You find out where you are when you pick up your tickets. Well worth the purchase.
Theyre presenting it as a good value but its actually what it would cost straight up with fees. Sounds more attractive to a potential buyer anyway if you are trying to get multiple people involved. "Hey, we get this meal package thing with 5 star chefs! We get free parking! Merch bundle! Food credit!". You can easily burn through $300 of food in a couple days. It just makes it easier to hit purchase instesd of nabbing vip and then on the next screen theres the add ons and youre sitting there with the clock ticking and youre on the fence about stuff.
My point is it looks like it’s more expensive to bundle than to just straight up buy everything separate. Unless they’re planning on jacking up costs a lot, which they may
The pricing chart is established on the website. Thats never changed after its been announced. The only thing I can recall the last fests with tiered pricing is adding another tier but thats it. Cant really jack up anything else. And ga didnt even change price this year. I think theyve hit the limit on pricing cause I dont know whats gonna happen if you are asking $600 at the lowest price and the top names dont match it. Thats the territory theyre in at this moment. So a Taylor Swift or a Rolling Stones seems to justify the price point. Its happened so many times when the price has gone up that we expect the talent to reflect the cost.

I’m 35 and had to look up The Rolling Stones on Spotify to see what their most popular songs are. I wouldn’t mind humming I can’t get no satisfaction as I grab my hoodie to walk to the Mojave to see Victoria Monet
The Stones were boring as hell at Desert Trip and got upstaged by Bob Dylan. I did get to see The Stones at Sofi in 2021 on the 60th Anniversary of Mick and Keith meeting on the train platform to start the band. Now that show was incredible - seemed liked they put some extra effort into the performance due to the occasion.
I mean, I will certainly take hearing sympathy for the devil, paint it black and gimme shelter over Justin Bieber. Ironically the 40+ crowd may be less interested in this booking though, a lot of “saw them 10-20 years ago and they seemed tired then” amongst my squad.
complaints about the stones shows just how privileged we are when coachellas biggest competitor is getting post malone and rhcp as headliners
if you dislike RHCP for misogyny/pedophilia reasons you have to hold the stones to that standard. You can't pick and choose. And if being able to fly to Coachella every year without question isnt privileged idk what is. I'm clearly just not in the economic bracket to enjoy music the right way, aren't I?

I wasn’t at Desert Trip, but I cannot imagine The Stones getting upstaged by Dylan who is a notoriously mediocre performer.

Just saw Anita Baker. If the headliners aren't up to that caliber of performance, I don't want it. Sheesh, probably the best live vocals I've ever heard. And she's turning 66!
Anyways, hope everyone has a happy holidays! Appreciate all the scoops and conversations to pass the time
lol I kind of wanted see Anita. memories of "Caught Up In The Rapture" and "Sweet Love" on KOST as a child
She alluded to doing an encore tour next year, highly recommend! Seriously one of the best performers I've seen, she's also very funny lol

I was gonna say, Dylan hasn’t upstaged anybody in 50 years
If we want to play the “headliner picks their opener” game who would we peg for the Stones? Wouldn’t hate if they got the Strokes
Not to overpromise on The Mock That I Swear Is Almost Done but I’m going for a left field pick with Gwen Stefani since she’s doing Cali Vibes and guested with the Stones when they played LA in 2013
So Utada is doing a 2024 Japan tour for her 25th anniversary. She's never done a US tour as far as I know, but maybe Coachella could pull her for a one off. I could see her maybe coming back over to do a couple big shows in NY, LA. I still beat myself up for not seeing her post about showing up to 88 Rising in 2022 lol
No idea what her billing would be. I think she'd deserve a sub based on legacy, but maybe down to 3rd because idk if Coachella would bring a ton of her fans.

If the stones are playing, I'll check it out for sure, I'm sure I'll have some fun but I'd be lying if I said they were the vibe I was at Coachella for, still they have some fucking great music.
So if The Stones are headlining…I assume we get a Lady Gaga appearance for Sweet Sounds of Heaven. There are so many other great collaborations they could pull off.
