Are you equating their headliner potential to how well a re-release of a concert film from the 80s did?
Well if nobody saw it then yea lol. Also 80s were nearly half a century ago
This is some seriously strange thinking here. Queen is about to re-release a concert film in a couple weeks and it’ll like make a quarter of what Stop Making Sense did for the re-release and I can guarantee you that they’d also headline.
If they didn’t give here a full 3 hours I don’t see it happening. Her fans would be pissed and it would be a waste of an opportunity I think. Coming from someone who’s not a fan but recognizes her star status and ability to perform
I’ve seen the show and honestly it has a bit of pacing issues. A trimmed down show would work better IMO.
And they’ve already devised a trimmed down version, for the movie
Just looking at the final posters we have had 1 RTTD (Calvin Harris), and 3 Co-Headliners (Kanye and The Strokes, Blur and Stone Roses, and RATM and Tool).
For all intents and purposes, I do think Calvin was the actual Saturday headliner, or at the very least co-headlining, but the optics of having BLACKPINK solely at the top of their day was beneficial for all parties.
Yeah dude grandparents love hanging out with there grandkids. My grandma took me to a Carlos Santana show, dosen't mean im a big fan. Again, Talking Heads arent gonna ever headline Coachella. ur dululululu
Not saying they will, but they certainly can headline. I mean, LCD Soundsystem & the Stone Roses did. You're delusional if you don't think the Rolling Stones are still relevant among all age groups too.
Dude im willing to bet $100 if you ask 10 random people under the age of 40 to name 2 Rolling Stones songs not one person will be able too. I truly have never met a Rolling Stones fan irl

The people pretending to be inside Paul Tollet or Lana Del Rey’s brain are so cringe.
“This is a long term bet on branding for Paul. Only Coachella can reunite these bands. Only Coachella has the cache. Only Coachella is special enough. And that is priceless to him.”

except mr. Harris
Could argue even especially for him, as he got his own special placement on the poster itself in the same size font as the other headliners. Certainly beats sharing a line or subbing.

maybe, but if they heard some of their songs they are definitely familiar and probably could even sing along to some of them.
why does this year feel even messier than the last 3. like i was genuinely convinced after the shit show of the last 3 years (covid, kanye, last year taking forever) that we would be good to go with this year and they would book so far in advance. like im sick.

Touch grass
We’re all here making assumptions and sometimes assertions based on what decisions have been made in the past as well as documented public statements. Your opinion is as valid as mine! We’re just here killing time before the line up drops.

Now do the same with Blackpink, Frank Ocean, and Bad Bunny

kingvamp999wrld if you asked 10 random people under 40 if they've heard these songs, 8 of them would probably say yes. the other 2 have probably never listened to music, watched TV, or seen any movies.

Likely cause headliners have caught on that GV cares about exclusivity and their agents or reps have been using that more as a negotiation tactic.

I'm always confused by these comments because the Coachella lineup drop has usually been chaotic, at least from my memory. They always book late, they're always doing things at the very last minute. There's a reason Mikey could tease a 10 year old pic...it's because history is repeating itself yet again.
Wasn't Calvin Harris the first (and only since SHM got moved up to Headliner) RTTD? I still don't see why people keep thinking this is happening... I think a co-headline is more likely than RTTD. There is certainly more precedent for co-headliners.

yeah idk it just seems so strange to me. every other festival ive gone to always announces a date for the lineup and from what i can remember theyre never late.

But a lot of those fests are carbon copies of each other more or less. Coachella stands out because of their unconventional way of doing things. You gotta embrace the unknown, eventually you begin to enjoy this time of year.
