Timbaland is like our current Jack Antonoff phase x100, you can say some songs are good or he’s fine in small doses but also be sick of him being on every pop song of the era. I’m cool with Nelly Furtado because she was incredible underrated in her time, but a full Timbaland showcase sounds like torture.
Yeah, I think the appeal of Nelly Furtado is an order of magnitude bigger than the appeal of Timbaland. Nobody gives a shit about his solo stuff, he hasn’t produced anything of value in a long time (that I’m aware of), he’s never had appeal as a DJ. MAYBE if he has a comeback, but otherwise no way.

The only reason we're even considering Nelly Furtado is because the dude behind Portola booked her which was probably just a random fun artist he wanted, not an indicator of some multi-fest GV deal. It's not like she's some super exclusive or extremely coveted artist for festivals. The idea of Nelly Furtado at Coachella would've been dismissed pretty quickly otherwise.
Would Justin Timberlake still be a headliner? Since Man of the Woods got like no traction and he has been very quiet since then and it feels like his moment has passed, I’m curious if folks think he is still capable of being a headliner, or if so, Coachella attendees would actually be hyped for a Timberlake headlining set?

Nelly also played OSL the year before and it was well received

She also came out during Dom Dolla at Lolla and caused a lot of buzz

They had him and it wouldve had N'Sync reuniting. You cant do that again so the moment essentially passed. He would still be a fun festival set. Not like he has a shortage of big songs. A 75 min sub set would be perfect for him cause its all killer and no filler.

The Timbaland hegemony was the worst era of pop music.
I think you're paying too much attention to his pop catalog and not enough attention to his hiphop and r&b catalog, which is much deeper. Especially in the hiphop world, he was known for having beats that sounded nothing like anyone else and pulling out obscure samples lol. Like you think Big Pimpin and Dirt Off Your Shoulder sound the same? One in A Million and More Than A Woman sound the same?? Far from it lol
His pop stuff definitely followed a formula that sounded similar yeah I agree. But, that section of his catalog is not what most Timb fans love him for. Same goes for Pharrell/Neptunes
Let's keep this Y2Chella train chugging... Would they book Usher? His Vegas residency has been selling well and supposedly ends at the end of this year.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

Edit: Not as a headliner
Don’t see him subbing unless it’s for like Beyoncé lol. And don’t see headlining. So it’s just if he wants to do it to have it on his resume but he doesn’t need it.
