Since I'm seeing Brent Faiyaz brought up here - I don't know anything about him except he recently canceled (okay, "postponed") two sold out LA shows, hours before showtime. Zero explanation/apology to fans. Seems like a real solid dude
seems like Olivia was never really tenable as a festival act this year with this level of demand
seems like her trajectory is taking her right past festivals altogether
So then she is gonna wait 10 years to even try them and we'll have another global apocalypse that prevents it from happening? If she just sticks to what she had been saying about not just jumping into anything too crazy when it came to touring then its an eventuality. Still has a shot to pop up on the schedule at this juncture.

well she's already handily moving 70k tickets in LA, at what point does she need to play Coachella? If she wants to sure it's a different story but festivals need her way more than she needs to play them

Beyoncé and Bad Bunny were doing stadiums before they did Coachella Sza did 4 arenas in LA this year plus a flog gnaw. No one would think she’s too big for Coachella. Billie Eyelash did 6 arena dates in LA and Coachella in 12 months and no one would be surprised if she’s at Coachella 2025 or 2026. Kendrick Lamar did 4 LA dates and 1 Ontario date. And he will be doing all the festivals he wants.
Let’s pump the brakes and stop acting like we are talking about Michael Jackson here lmao

This is the exact same thing people were saying about Bad Bunny last year

It's like one of those logical fallacies that keep getting repeated over and over again like "they'd make more money doing their own LA show" as a reason for not doing Coachella.

The difference here is that we’re only a year removed from a zillion hit pieces being printed about how O Rod still needs work on her live performance. What incentive is there to throw her out on the Coachella stage now if there’s still even a slight chance her set will appear off? She doesn’t need the promotion. She can do the tour, ease into having an arena headliner level show performing to only her fans and no livestream and do Coachella down the road. It’ll be there.
The fact that we’re sitting here comparing her to Beyoncé without flinching makes me think people might actually expect that level of performance from her at Coachella, and no offense intended at all, that’s not where she’s at right now.
Also people here were saying she wouldn't headline. With the amount of demand for these shows she's not taking anything less than a headliner spot on the poster.

Funny enough, when I was watching the first half of NewJeans’ Lolla stream where they were doing slower live band versions of their early songs, I thought “oh this is inspired by Olivia Rodrigo.”
I don’t think any artist is too big for Coachella now but this insane demand for megastar tours has changed the dynamic on availability. Allowing artists (and agents) to not be in a rush to put themselves or their star on festivals.

this situation just felt like more of a mismatch of timing than anything

Flakiness is a trait of great R&B artists. Brent Faiyaz stock just keeps rising.
I don't Olivia is too big to sub, if the HL on her day is just clearly bigger than her, like a Taylor Swift. Or even a similar current popularity, but someone with more longevity. Like Doja / Weeknd. (Not saying she isn't big enough to HL because she clearly is)

If anything's apparent, it's the fact that people still don't recognize new headliner blood until they're on posters (Bad Bunny, Zach Bryan, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.).

This what happens when Coachella is the new KIIS FM Jingle Ball. Talking about acts headlining who never been on a big stage just cause they’re popular
