re: Noah Kahan - I won't lie, I wasn't a fan of the Lumineers or their set at all, but Noah Kahan's won me over. Definitely giving me Mumford & Sons vibes. I'll sing along with the zoomers, haha.
VERY MUCH the same afraid of Pond/PPC. The ideal lineup for me on Friday would allow me to see Arcade Fire, Interpol, Yves Tumor, All Them Witches, Pond, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, All Them Witches, Pigs x7 and Winona Fighter with no conflicts. Of those, I'm expecting at least 3 conflicts. Biggest ones I'm hoping are Interpol/AF/PPC at different times.
I'm like 90% sure All Them Witches and All Them Witches are gonna be playing at the same time, sorry bud
LMAO oops. Thought I forgot em so I put em twice
8 groups in total that I really want to see. Though so far I've been listening to as much as I can of each artist, and there's only one artist (Odie Leigh) that I bounced off of. Friday's pretty freaking fantastic.
I’ve seen every act on the top three lines of every day, minus Noah Kahan and Young The Giant. I can’t believe how many lower acts I’ve never really listened to that I’m finding. Every day is pretty loaded for me now.
So this year is weird for me. I don’t really have a solid top 10 where I’m hyped up to see every one, but I can pretty easily list 20 bands that I want to see.
1.All Them Witches 2.Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs 3.QOTSA 4.Dinosaur Jr. 5.Pond 6.Metric 7.Foos 8.Weezer (higher if it’s Blue album set) 9.Billy Idol 10.Waxahatchee 11.Switchfoot 12.Offspring 13.Royal Blood 14.SDRE 15.Interpol 16.Yves Tumor 17.Psychedelic Porn Crumpets 18.PTM 19.Kevin Morby 20.Girl In Red
It sounds like the Weezer-Blue set is happening. I’m certainly in the minority, but I’d be much happier with the set from the last tour with a few changes. Though Rivers seems content with the nostalgia now, I wish they’d hit more of the highlights on they had on recent albums and old b-sides. If I get any bit of “I’ve Had It Up To Here” “King of the World” “Thank God For Girls”” “Do You Want To Get High?” “Aloo Gobi” or”Foolish Father”. I’d be much happier than a “Blue with the other hits” type of set. Their hits post Maladroit really suck. Beverly Hills is truly one of the worst songs ever written. I’d even take a couple songs off the SZNS ep’s. This band had a broadway show that had a setlist of 30+ songs until production costs exceeded the money they were going to make. I really want to see a career spanning set. I’m sorry for being inforoo’s local Weezer apologist/fanatic. This has been the moment I’ve been waiting for since I joined the board because Paul McCartney was playing Firefly in 2015

They're probably going to announce album plays all at once. Blue Album is like 99% guaranteed. Wouldn't be surprised to see Smash by The Offspring (although I'd prefer that WWWY setlist), Diary by SDRE, maybe Antics by Interpol.

Have we ever had any others for Shaky? I only noticed them on 2023's lineup (my first year going) and they were announced at the initial lineup announcement.
edit: Wait, I remember Jane's Addiction and Huey Lewis and the News also had ones.

Violent Femmes did debut album (but I don't think it was advertised in advance) and Social Distortion did their debut album as well

Speaking of b-sides I'd love to hear "Jamie". Of course this is simply nostalgia driven since if they do the Blue album I'd much rather they focus any extra time elsewhere.

Yeah I feel that (even though there's a couple of "I REALLY GOTTA SEE EM" bands for me). my 'shortlist' already in no particular order:
Friday 1. Noah Kahan 2. Arcade Fire 3. Young the Giant 4. Interpol 5. The Revivalists 6. Tves Tumor 7. Metric 8. All Them Witches 9. Pond 10. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets 11. Ax and the Hatchman 12. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs 13. Winona Fighter
Saturday 1.Weezer 2. Queens of the Stone Age 3. The Offspring 4. Miike Snow 5. Royal Blood 6. Sunny Day Real Estate 7. Palace 8. Chicano Batman 9. Microwave 10. Dead Poet Society 11. Pool Kids
Sunday 1. Foo Fighters 2. Billy Idol 3. Portugal. The Man 4. Dinosaur Jr.
And I'm still only halfway through Friday's bands (though I've casually listened to a single or two from some others I didn't know)

my vote is for Blue album and Pinkerton. I'm a huge fan of full album sets.
Friday: 1. Arcade Fire 2. Interpol 3. Pigs x7 4. Metric 5. PCC 6. Pond 7. Winona Fighter 8. All Them Witches 9. Revivalists
Saturday: 1. QOTSA 2. SDRE 3. Offspring 4. Weezer 5. Royal Blood 6. Pool Kids 7. Microwave
Sunday: 1. Foos 2. Dino Jr 3. Matt and Kim 4. Christone “Kingfish” Ingram 5. The Struts
This is as it just stands right now. As stuff gets announced like full album performances, this list may change. I have a feeling late night shows on Friday and Saturday will be in my future.
Speaking of full albums. They had a pretty perfect chance to get Say Anything performing Is A Real Boy with how close the dates are in ATL to Shaky. Sadly now can’t go to the 20th anniversary show. But hey I did go to the 10th anniversary! So that was a blast
Excluding the headliners since I don’t care for Noah or Foos**. Here are my most anticipated acts on each day. The * means I’ve seen them. Weezer* is the only headliner I’m excited for. Been waiting for them to play Shaky honestly.
Friday: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets Pond* Arcade Fire* Young The Giant Pigsx7 Metric Interpol** Ax and the Hatchetmen All Them Witches** Switchfoot
Saturday: Miike Snow The Offspring* Chicano Batman QOTSA* Royal Blood* Palace Girl In Red (half a *) Dead Poets Society Quarters of Change Sunny Day Real Estate
Sunday: Portugal. The Man******* Billy Idol Kevin Morby Matt and Kim Dinosaur Jr. Men I Trust* Kingfish* Waxahatchee Nova Twins*

Switch Men I Trust and Matt & Kim then we're cooking. I think it's pretty likely that Billy Idol will play the time slot he was supposed to play in 2022 on Piedmont and Portugal. The Man gets the main stage. I could also see The Offspring playing main stage before Queens of the Stone Age and Girl In Red closing Piedmont. The crossover between Weezer and The Offspring is pretty close and it'd be a little crazy to have those fans frantically running from one stage to the other.

I think you like Portugal, The Man bud.
I really do but they just play everywhere really. I’ve seen 3 times at Bonnaroo, twice at Shaky Knees already, once at Okee and once at Hula. They put on a great show every time. And feel like if they are at a fest I have to see them now. Still songs I’m chasing or hope to hear again. Hoping they finally close out with Sleep Forever again.

They did Jamie with just Rivers on acoustic last tour. It was definitely a highlight of the show.
Edit: it was actually Suzanne I think. Give me Jamie this time around.

Offspring are doing a 30th anniversary show for Smash in June, and seem to make it specific they’ll only be playing it in full at that show. So probably no full Smash at SK.

Is walking back from the venue not recommended? I found a few places that are really close to the park but I’ve never been to the fest so I don’t know what the area is like.

We've stayed at the Hyatt Regency the last couple of years and doing the same for 2024. I might not want to make that walk under normal circumstances but there are so many people doing the same after a fest night that it's not a problem.

My hotel is like 10-15 min away and I never felt unsafe walking to or from the festival. There are so many other people walking around.

To echo others, there are so many people walking that it's totally fine. But be aware that this year the only entrance was by the convention center. The former entrance off of North Avenue is now exit only. So depending on where you stay that may affect your walk.
