I can vouch for good stays at both Marriott Marquis and Hyatt Regency. Hyatt has recently been more reasonable price-wise and is a bit cheaper if you book through the SK website. Walking back from the fest was with a herd of people and felt very safe. Use the same common sense you would in any major metro area. Also tried a few AirBNBs over the years. But after ATL changed it's leasing laws a year or so ago, there are fewer options at higher prices. I also had a host cancel last minute one year, which sucked. As an aside, there is now a yearly Professional Law Enforcement Conference in ATL the same weekend as SK. 2023 was at the Hyatt, 2024 is at the Marriott.

We saw quite a few leos at the Hyatt Regency as we headed for breakfast one morning before SK23. I believe it was Saturday. We ended up sitting outside at the Corner Bakery across the street. A few minutes later a few official looking vehicles pulled up and then an official looking and somewhat familiar dude walked out of the hotel and got into one of the vehicles. It was Anthony Blinken. So yeah this is a pretty legit conference.
SK22 was the first time I had ever heard of Biffy Clyro and got hooked immediately leading up the fest. The set was amazing. Listening right now and it really just baffles me how they are such a big band in the UK but seemed to never really make a breakthrough here.

I’ve never understood it either. I saw them years ago opening for Muse, and have loved them ever since. The shaky set was only the second time I’ve been able to see them and they were definitely one of the best acts that entire weekend.
I feel like the comment Tim made on FB a couple of weeks ago basically confirmed we’re getting Blue.
I missed this, what did he say
Someone referenced the blue album. He replied ‘some patience and you may just get what you wish for’. I can’t get a photo to imbed but there’s a pic of the exchange in the comments of a post from yesterday about the blue album.
Also does anyone have a setlist fm of Weezer doing Blue in full? Would like to see what else they crank out
For the memories tour they did a “Time Machine bit where they played a hit off every album starting with Back to the Shack and went back until they hit El Scorcho . With a deluxe reissue(something they have already done for this album 20 years ago I think) they may be focusing on the deep cuts from that era. Paperface, Let’s Sew Our Pants Together, Sandwiches Time, Lullabye For Wayne or Mykel and Carli would be huge to see live. A possible Nirvana cover could be in play since it will be about a month after the anniversary of his passing and they were a band Rivers loved, also the fact Rivers plays around with the Kurt jokes. Since it is a festival, most likely it’ll be their singles that charted tacked on to a front to back Blue play through. If they close with Only In Dreams though they can silently sit on stage for all I care.

I got to see this show in Nashville about 10 years ago. They did a greatest hits set then a Blue set. Blue isn’t even 45 minutes long so they should have at least 30 minutes to do other stuff.

Anyone else find it a bit weird how hard Shaky is pushing Noah Kahan? Like, they’ve had a handful of social media posts about him, memes about him, but I haven’t seen any for the other headliners. It just seems cringey how hard they’re pushing him, and essentially ignoring everyone else. Each post is filled with comments talking shit about him. I’m not really a fan, but will optimistically watch his set. I wasn’t a fan of MMJ until I saw them live. Hoping this is the same for Noah.

He sells tickets. I’ve seen other fests doing the same thing.

Oh for sure. I think it’s more that it seems like they’re doing it because of the negativity surrounding him, yet, when they post, it just breeds more negativity. I dunno, just rubs me the wrong way.

you're imagining it, go look at their feeds, all three headliners are getting equal attention. Maybe you're just seeing the algo push more Noah stuff because they get more comments from mad people

Based off of Instagram, I’m not imagining it. From 11/28 (The “Your Headiners Are” post)until today, Shaky has mentioned Queens of the Stone Age twice, Foo Fighters and Weezer 5 times each, and Noah Kahan 9 times. I don’t have Twitter and to be honest, am too lazy to check if it’s any different on Facebook, but usually the same post is across all platforms.

Do we know if it's the same across platforms? I'm from the Weezer, Foo, QOTSA gen and rarely get on IG so maybe it's an age thing. I always catch the MySpace adds.

Haha, I don’t have MySpace, but it’s the same on IG and Facebook. I’m from the same generation as you, so that’s the extent of my social media abilities.

I suspect Noah Kahan's booking fee VS current drawing power is very favorable for SK. It's a business after all. Foos booking feels more disappointing/lazy IMO. My wife is happy at least.

For sure. I’d be willing to bet he’s the biggest draw this year. I’m just saying that each time they post, the amount of negative comments greatly outweigh the positive ones, so it seems strange that they keep doing it so heavily. Just an observation.
Just to be clear, I don't really use MySpace... sorry Tom.
I'm going to be at the set since I already paid for it. No sense in going in super negative, I'll give him at least a few songs to sway me.
I do get a kick out of some of the comments on FB though.
Oh I’m with you 100%. The hyper-negativity is crazy to me. I’m going in as optimistically as possible.
Those folks are either trolling or they haven't progressed through their grief stages. They're stuck in an anger, denial and bargaining loop. I think most of us are at acceptance. Or we're too depressed to complain. Shout out to Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.
