they played non stop for the whole set time, no encore. absolutely killed it. The bonnaroo set, being longer, had more songs but I think I might give this one a slight edge on pure performance. They were really loose and jammy and seemed to be having a ton of fun up there. J. Mascis was a surprise but he seemed a little timid. Steam Engine got pretty abstract and probably the most Type 2 I've seen from them in a long time before Patrick starting beating the shit out of those drums. Same with touch Me - very funky and dancy to start and morphed into a dreamy/ethereal jam before bring the guitars back for a big rock out before the fade out which set up an Anytime that got the whole crowd jumping.
There was a really cool moment for my wife and during the show. as circuital was ending they were sorta noodling about, and we looked at each other and both predicted Black Metal right before that big opening chord hit. definitely a moment that will only ever mean anything to us, but after 20+ shows together it felt special.
Also, Ween fucking killed it before hand so it was a really, really great night.
Setlists for this fall tour are insane. They’re doing things as a band they’ve never done and it’s a very exciting time to be a fan. Anyone who’s able to hit any of the remaining shows this year absolutely should.

As more time passes I think this is the greatest thing Ive ever seen live. Outside of the voice crack on the fourth word of the song. The songbird section ramping up is so good.

Anybody see MMJ last night they played Z in reverse
I did, I was only supposed to go to the previous night, pulled a gale Mary and made the second night. Dondante opener was wild. By the start of lay lo we knew way as going down and was so excited. I think it was possibly my favorite of 30 shows.
