Why is Saturday so stacked? Other days feel pretty light for me in comparison.
ya this is part of why i kinda want to wait on buying. theres a chance i just go for saturday day pass, but then that means missing jai and sudan and wednesday :/
i think i might wait and see what resale looks like for getting either 3-day GA or separately buying friday and saturday passes
I just paid face value for Pitchfork for the first time in years.
im trying to decide between pulling the trigger rn and waiting on resale. youre saying for multiple years prior, you paid over or under face?
i feel like this will sell well but prob not sell out?
Pitchfork usually goes under face. Some single days GA sell out each year but it’s pretty rare for 3 days to. (That might change with the VIP additions but we’ll see.)

I paid under face in previous years but sometimes it took a lot of effort like checking craigslist and stubhub consistently the week of fest. If you are already traveling from out of town I wouldn't mess with the secondary market.
Social media reaction is all over the place on this. I saw someone say to paraphrase that in spite of Saturday this festival is “for men now”??
too lazy to count, but from eyeballing it I feel like there’s comfortably more than 50% female artists on this thing
Yeah and there’s a lot of women too who are excited about Alanis, Muna, Carly etc. there is something for everyone who wants to have a take on this lineup!

The lead singer of Lifeguard is siblings with one of the members of Horsegirl. Pretty sure all of Lifeguard are still in high school too which is very impressive.

Fun Chicago Fact: The bass player, Asher, is Brian Case’s (90 Day Men/The Pony’s/ Disappears/ FACS) kid, too. They both have lineage.
That Pitchfork lineup is quacking perfect. They managed, with only 42 artists on the poster, to somehow cover a diverse range of genres with the best rising artists in those genres, sprinkling in a handful of legacy artists from the 90's on forward. Best of all, it appears to have been curated to be good and sell plenty of tickets to that event, and not simply sell more tickets to Luke Hemmings and Renee Rapp shows at your friendly neighborhood LiveNation venue in six months.
It's the kind of lineup where the artists with whom you're already familiar are so good that it's worth checking out just about anyone you don't know, because just being on the poster feels like a seal of approval.
If I didn't already have a show on my calendar on what would be my travel day to Chicago, I'd go to this...and I hate flying with a passion.

When did they stop offering counter-programming on the blue stage during the headliner? I remember discovering Oneohtrix Point Never because I didnt really care for FKA Twigs way back in like 2016. Seemed like a good idea to have options at a festival filled with underground music geeks.

There’s been this gradual shift over time where as they’ve booked more popular names on the top line and made Friday a full day of music, they’ve reduced the amount of blue stage programming generally, since it used to run super early in the day too.
