Need to check out her new album! What’s a show of hers like live? I’ve only ever seen Alabama Shakes.
Less guitar and more of soul/funk vibe. I get the feeling she’s leaning harder and harder into a funk persona. Musicianship is always great with who she surrounds herself with. I doubt she’s headliner but would assume the fort is Cory-Brittany-Unnanounced
Will add her band in support of her latest album is absolutely fire, and this will def be a must-watch set.
Thanks for sharing. I need to give her stuff another listen as I didn’t connect with the couple of songs I’ve listened to, even though she should be up my alley.
fine with this in a vacuum but it’s kinda lame to have two top line names from jazz fest also at folk fest.
Yes very redundant.
At least I would think that Cory Wong’s jazz and folk sets will be wildly different. But this does at least ease up any potential conflicts with Brittany Howard
People thought they were holding back Sunday because there was this big reveal coming. In reality it looks like they didn’t want to affect NJF ticket sales with the crossovers.

Easy solution to that - don't do crossovers. So lazy.
Upcoming Shows: July 19: Noah Kahan/Mt. Joy July 26: Newport Folk Festival August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
Has everybody bought back in now? I'm still very underwhelmed.
Also - did you come across tickets? I know you got shut out of regular sale.
Some friends got some extra tickets for Friday so we're in for that day - which happens to be the only day I'm really interested in at this point. If the last Sunday announcement is a big one I may still go for Sunday but I have no interest in Saturday.

im mostly underwhelmed in that there's about the same amount of acts im interested in seeing as any given year, but the "musts" are weaker. I'm interested in seeing:
Friday: Adrienne Lenker, Black Pumas, Buck Meek, Medicine Singers, Molly Tuttle, Muna, Petey, Wednesday
Saturday: Bertha, Billy Bragg, Gillian/Dave, Josiah, Killer Mike, Reyna Tropical, the War on Drugs
Sunday: Brittany Howard, Cory Wong, Friko, La Lom, Mighty Poplar, the Breeders, Tinariwen
Of those, the only ones that are "musts" for me are Wednesday, Muna, Gillian/Dave, Killer Mike, TWOD, the Breeders - and I've seen two of those recently.

On the same day too. When I saw her name, I figured she’d be on Friday for that reason.
honestly though, looking back on last year's schedule its pretty likely that Brittany Howard and Cory Wong will clash in some manner with Andre 3000 and Kamasi Washington at NJF, so it'll be nice that I can catch them at NFF if I want
(though I will admit, i have no idea how they're going to slot Andre's set at NJF - he's top billed but his jazz sets have been pretty mellow and ambient, would be a really really weird way to close the Fort)

Been going since 2014. This year is the most underwhelming/least excitement-generating lineup for my taste in music. I have a feeling the aftershows will be bigger names than the headliners.

They have not finished that lineup yet, so could be more to come for that headline spot. I can’t see him closing it down.

I don’t get to compare it to the heyday, so for me, I’m getting excited.
Dave and Gillian Adrianne Sierra Ferrel Cunningham/Bird Cory Wong Brittany Howard Shovels and Rope Joan Baez War on Drugs
Is a solid “excited for” list for me. But Dave and Gillian go a long way in my book
Maybe the problem for me is that we were never alerted that the heyday was over. Ticket prices have continued to increase while the talent has noticeably dwindled.
