part of me respects the Dice/waitlist thing because it does keep scalping down, but at the same time it makes it nearly impossible for people to plan to go. like, what's worse - holding on to a hotel room/rental in limbo, not knowing if you'll get tickets? or biting the bullet and paying a few hundred dollars over face to just get the tickets you want?
the years when I've been on the waitlist it didn't really matter as much to me, since we're in Newport anyway, but for people just planning on coming in for the fest its a huge hassle.
All true. If resale was easy though it would spike demand even more. They'd really have no choice but to do a big price hike.
This is a fair replacement, but I’ve seen De La Soul and never seen the Breeders, so I’m still a little disappointed. Was kind of hoping Jay was going to tap into his Seattle indie or Omaha emo connections and we’d get like Jenny Lewis, Ben Gibbard (solo), The Shins, or Cursive in that slot.

Yeah, I would have rather had the Breeders too, although I get why this is an exciting replacement.

Big thief announced the departure of Max from the band. The Adrienne and Buck double booking makes more sense now and Big thief was probably intended to be a sub and these bookings were the result of the new change in the band while they find their footing.

Eh, maybe? This seems like a pretty new change. As of now, Big Thief is still scheduled to play in OR the same weekend as Newport and in Europe in August. Not sure who they'll get to fill in on bass. Maybe Mat Davidson if he's free?

Anyone know if we’re getting Petey full band or a stripped down acoustic version of Petey? I really hope the first, but he seems to be putting out a lot of acoustic singles as of late.
I thought there was an option to remove yourself from the waiting list BEFORE you get the offer….so it looks like people are not being proactive and removing themselves before they get the offer.
I think Dice could do a better job of building a "wait list" list on the app. There is no where to go for you to see what waitlists you are currently on. So you have to remember you are on a waitlist and which one and go to that event to change or update it. Not difficult if you are tracking it but if you signed up for a variety of tickets (aka 3 day, and single days) it makes it kind of annoying to go and check and update each one. I bet if they made it more front and center in the app under Tickets or something we would see a little bit more movement.
